Do you know what beef is?

What is your honest opinion of The Notorious B.I.G.? I don't really see his name being thrown around a lot here, so I was just wondering what some people thought of him.

I believe he is a great artist, just one that I cannot really get into. His music is much more darker than his West side counterpart, and I feel that is the biggest reason why I cannot enjoy him. "Suicidal Thoughts" and "What's Beef" are both dark songs, but I can enjoy them.

I could definitely use some recommendations, because I DO think that Biggie was a great artist.

I couldn't get into him, before i got his two albums and just listened to them from end to end a couple of times. But that helped a lot and now he's one of my favourite artists. Mainly it's because his storytelling is so good that you get drawn to what he has to say. You're right though, the overall vibe of his music is pretty dark and has that grimey NY sound of the 90's, but personally, I love most of the beats he's rapping over.
These are some of my favourite songs by him:

This. Pac just had that spark, that passion, that Biggie seemed to lack. But Biggie as an MC was far beyond Pac I think.

What I would suggest...well, this is probably a very unpopular opinion, but check out Life After Death...I think it's better than Ready To Die. At least, I think the music itself was better. Sounded better to me. :zipped:

I think Biggie is great, but Pac is the greatest of all time.
