He also says the June 12th date for Slaughterhouse is "tentative". :facepalm

If the SH album is gonna be like My Life, I will be incredibly disappointed.

My life was just a song to get them out there to a bigger audience, hence the Cee-Lo feature. I already heard it on ESPN so it's good marketing. But I guarantee their album is going to be the best of the year next to Yela's album and the possible Shady 2.0 Collab album

When asked about the album's overall sound, Budden explained that the disc will sound "large." He also said the groups recently released single, "My Life" gives a taste of the "large" sound fans can expect.

Sigh.

Gonna be another let-down then.

Great hip-hop or original art is supposed to create a new direction, or dictate how and why IT is great and not just be a slightly altered version of the latest trends...

I do feel Em has lost his true integrity now and, he's leading them and Yela down shitty roads.

I don't think it's Em pushing them...tbh, I believe it to be Royce. Ever since Lighters I'm sure he feels like they need to make hits.

Whatever, they sound like they like the direction they're going in, so...and he didn't say the whole album was going to be as commercial as My Life, only that it will all "sound big", which is good.

I have zero expectations for the album, though. I'll judge it when I hear it.

Are they incapable of saying "No"? They don't sound like they're being forced into anything. They've said they want to make money and gain fame, and that's what they're trying to do.

They've already said that they can rap, and everyone knows they can rap, so it's not gonna be an album full of bars. It'll still be lyrical, but bigger.

I don't mind the evolution. Royce deserves this tbh.

So its gonna be bubblegum pop with good rhyming? Thats not an album their fans are gonna want to listen to, its incredibly corny, and it will be looked down upon by the hiphop community. Good production is supposed to create the right atmosphere for the lyrics, and Shady has been providing lifeless syncopated crap that instantly adds insane levels of cheese (judging by My Life alone). Its not bigger, bigger is MMLP, Illmatic and The Chronic, albums that took risks and had stylized productions that have purpose and meaning, setting up generic pop beats is as small minded as it gets.

Yep.

Good, genuine (genuine as in, made for the sake of being art) art shouldn't be about being popular. It's just very very sad that... Eminem of all people, is now encouraging or taking part in the notion of broadening or aiming at a demographic or accepting that mindset as the right one.

He had the right mindset when he came back. Which was, "I'm just gonna do me, and fuck what everybody thinks" < that's an artist. I like Recovery, and his rapping lately, but he did still aim for appeal with it, he did essentially lose a lot of integrity with it and I feel he's now having a bad influence on Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse. Sigh. Rap is fucked.

Popular is not interesting. Popular is most, most is predictable. Most is shit!
