I know, this criticism always annoys the fuck out of me.
It's completely missing the point. As if the point or aim of his jibes or lines of late relies or is dependent upon fucking relevancy, who fucking cares lmao.
Always see critics say things like "his pop-culture references are still inane"... WOW, so what lmao. If he mentions fucking... Sarah Palin, it's not really ABOUT Sarah Palin half the time anyway, it's just a short-cut to familiarity and 'that kind' of figure.
It's such a retarded viewpoint to focus on the freshness of the references with him.
It's just like characters in 'Eminem's world' and, references are references, it's not about freshness. He also mentioned JFK in "Public Enemy #1" OMG THOUGH, JFK GOT ASSASSINATED IN THE 60S! WOW TALK ABOUT DATED MAN, COME ON EM, 40 YEARS TOO LATE, OMG!
People who view lines or references in this way; according to the popularity or social awareness or freshness are artistically retarded. In fact - I actually prefer dated or obscure references. Anybody can open a newspaper and read out what they see, but to flip recent events (not that Em particularly does this lately, but I'm just saying... he has done) into something unique or take old or barely known events and make them something else, or use them for a purpose or point, that's better.
