Shady Records - Promotion

Postby JustEnjoytheMusic » May 9th, '12, 18:33

I've got a question concerning Shady Records promotion.

Frankly, I don't hear/notice much concerning promotion of ANY hiphop label in Switzerland.
I heard about Recovery through the newspaper (because Eminem was right on top of the charts the first week it was released)... Maybe, I'm blind and simply don't notice that (okay, I honestly don't care. Stuff like that goes right by me), but I've noticed how the promotion of Shady Records is being criticised in this forum when it comes to Slaughterhouse and especially Yelawolf.

First question: What happens in the US/other countries when it comes to promotion (labels in general)?
Second question: What makes Shady Records so bad at promotion?
Third question: Does Eminem get that much more promotion for his albums (through Interscope) than the rest of Shady Records?

Thanks for the answer.

Funny thing is, I read a Yelawolf interview and album review shortly before Radioactive dropped. It was in "20 Minutes" which is a giveaway newspaper (circulation: 500,000 per day - no other newspaper is distributed at such a high level). Eminem promotion I started noticing by searching the web, before that I hardly noticed anything.

That's why I asked this question.
Anyway, I guess I can see the issue. Thanks again.

i guess em doesn't get that much promotion, he's just much better than yelawolf and cashis, but if em wanted, he could promote shady records and his members so much more..

You think that they would be smart enough to take some of the money they earned from Recovery and use it to promote 50 Cent, Yelawolf, & Slaughterhouse so they could make more money.

No one cares about 50 anymore.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

No one cares about 50 anymore.

He could still make an impact.
