Kendrick Lamar Lists His Top 5 Favorite Rappers

Postby flyingmonkey10 » May 16th, '12, 22:52

Kendrick Lamar names his top five rappers, dead or alive.

Kendrick Lamar recently chopped it up with Wild 94.9’s Nessa, running down his top five rappers dead or alive. During the interview, he named Tupac Shakur as his favorite rapper, also including The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Nas and Eminem on his list.

“My top five, dead or alive. Tupac, definitely. Tupac because the emotion that he put in and how much he related to the people, and how much he connected. That’s what music is about,” he said. “Music is supposed to move, whether you’re saying the most intricate stuff or the most simple, dumbed down. You gotta make some type of connection, and I feel like he did that the best.”

He flipped his attention to the East Coast, naming The Notorious B.I.G. as another of his choice emcees. “Biggie, because of his wit. Biggie’s wit was incredible. His wit and his character, his personality and his flow and most of all, his confidence. Anybody that can talk about themselves on a record and still have screaming women at the front of the stage, unless you know it goes a long way with your confidence in being an artist.

“Jay-Z, it’s an incredible thing where you can listen to his music and feel like you’re having a sit-down with him,” he continued. “Nas, the art of storytelling, I think Hip Hop is really based on that and getting your point across. Nas does that incredibly. Eminem, just being a wordsmith, an amazing wordsmith.”

Well that depends on what context you mean by "mad". Do you mean I'm Suffering from a disorder of the mind due to my strange opinion? Or Angry or resentful? Well I guess it doesn't actually matter what context you mean it in as no I am a fully healthy 18 year old with no mental illness of any kind... I assume you don't mean angry or resentful as I don't see how someone Else's top five list of rappers could ever actually make one angry?

You mad? (angry or resentful)

Truth!! Biggie is mad respected and he only had 2 albums too!! IF Good Kid in a Mad City is as awesome as i think it will be, he might just nip into it sooner than we think. For the record, he's as "old" as these guys (2 pac esp) were when they reached creative peaks.

Nahhhhh he's too popular. I think Nas is probably the least popular in the top 5 list and will be quickly replaced if they can find someone to can him. Not that I want him canned, he dope, but I could easily see Kendick taking his spot, maybe even Biggies but Jay-Z, 2Pac, and Eminem got a tight hold one the top 3 positions for most of these lists.
