I prefer Em over Kanye, Eminem beats are more emotional and have more power in them. That's me.

Eminem has in the past produced some brilliant tracks, and in my opinion is an extremely credible producer. It's a shame he hasn't got back into it with his last 2 albums.

But Kanye West might be the greatest hip-hop producer of all time. His catalogue is amazing. Listen to Graduation while high - Flashing Lights is orgasmic - and you'll appreciate the magnificence of Kanye's production... I don't think I've ever heard sounds that crisp and perfectly mixed. Only other producer who can achieve sounds on that level for me is Dre.

This to be totally fucking honest.

Kanye has 3 things that elevate him to being a better producer-
Range- his ability to create a WIDER range of beats compared to eminem. While this thread has pointed out 2 or three tracks and asked if they are the same (Square dance and Lose yourself) its obvious if one has listened to TES and all his subsequent production that there is that cartoonish, playful, guitar heavy sound that he falls back on ALOT. Kanye has been guilty of that since 2010 with all his different beats on WTT, MBDTF, and the upcoming GOOD music album almost always having the "Gregorian" moan, "epic", "theater" "offbeat drum" sound. Before that however, he made a polished Graduation, a relaxed Be and a full auto-tune album. Thats pretty impressive.

Sampling- the "is sampling inherently better than composing" argument has raged from the days of Wu-tang Clan so i guess its just one of those that will never be resolved. I will say though, i am definitely in the sampling camp lol

Song structure- this is where Kanye wins the debate for me. While Eminem has adhered to a sort of "set" song structure of "verse, hook, verse" and an occasional bridge here and there, Kanye has definitely been more creative in how to present tracks. Whether by the repetitive to almost redundant style of 808's songs such as "Amazing", or the free-flowing continuity such as the power remix with Jay Z and ultimately leading to the masterpiece of MBDTF's diversion from form, Kanye has shown greater ingenuity and in that regard. Eminem has done that before, i concede to that.( Public Enemy #1 being my favourite) but i feel that on the whole he has not done it enough times and on such unorthodox scales. Even Tech N9ne alluded to this in his last interview

P.S- to all those who are harping ON and ON and ON and ON about lose yourself it was co-produced by Luis Resto and because
The quiet piano and choir-like effects opening 2002 hit from "8 Mile," "Lose Yourself," that eases the listener into Eminem's dark story? That's from Resto.
i feel its even unfair on Eminem himself just as much as crediting Kanye with H.A.M would be.

Here's my opinion, Lose Yourself is better than anything I've heard Kanye produce, however that song was on a another while Eminem's producing is usually three tiers below that high. Kanye's level of producing skill has always been inbetween but has occasionally touched the feet of Lose Yourself. This simply means that Kanye is a more consistent producer and, for the most part, has produced better tracks than Eminem, however I feel like Kanye West hasn't touched Lose Yourself yet. Eminem's producing catalog isn't as good or consistent as Kanye's, but some of The Eminem Show and 8 Mile instrumentals can compete with Kanye's beats. Other than that, Kanye takes this easily. I go with Kanye West. If we are talking about skills as a rapper, well then Eminem takes that one easily.

Pretty much this :y: .
As others have pointed out, though, Lose Yourself wasn't produced by Eminem alone.

Bascially this:
Kanye is a better producer.
Eminem is a better rapper.

My vote goes therefore to Kanye West.
