Rick Ross could make a true classic, but fucks it up

Postby FreeSpeech » May 23rd, '12, 03:09

Dude just can't put together a good track list or a coherent album. He'll have amazing production for 5 songs, then jump to a corny Lex Luger beat.

I wish he didn't put out Rich Forever. I thought GFID would be a post-MBDTF masterpeice, but no, the singles suck dick.

If this was an EP, it would be incredible. When Ross ditches the cheesy Lex and southern beats, he kills it.

1. Rich Forever ft. John Legend
2. I Love My Bitches
3. Triple Beam Dreams ft. Nas
4. Mine Games ft. Kelly Rowland
5. The World Is Ours ft. Pharrell, Meek Mill, Stalley
6. Keys To The Crib ft. Styles P

Yeah, Rick Ross isn't even worth discussing or arguing about to most people here.

I mean, to each their own...whatever.

It's entertainment, it ain't that serious. Ross is one of the biggest ( :shifty: ) rappers out. He makes genuinely amazing songs (Valley of Death, Tears of Joy, Magnificent, etc) and can make a truly incredible album. But he slips up and uses cheap production.

As a person, I'm not a fan of Ross, but musically he can kill it.

Great production means nothing when the rapper is shitty.

I agree with this somewhat. He is one of the doucheist rappers. Period.
A wannabe thug. But his music enables him to save face a bit.

The problem is, his lack of consistency. He does have very solid tracks like the ones you posted or his verse on Devil In A New Dress but he does also have a whole pile of crap. Especially when it comes to content.

edit:

He's an above average rapper. Great voice/delivery, and his lyricism is great at times. If you can listen to songs like Valley of Death or DIAND and say he's a bad rapper, IDK what to say.

His voice is terrible, it sounds like a gorilla trying to cough a chicken wing out of its windpipe.

He sounds like a boss when he actually flows and doesn't just grunt like on BMF :coffee:

Nothing short of murdered this song.

I think the opposite; a great rapper is nothing when the production is shitty

I think Ross could make a great album, I don't the fact his last album had Lex Luger beats, (personally, I think this kid is a huge talent) was the problem, it was the fact he chose to put those two songs back-to-back

His hooks can be awful at times too, but he's got better with pretty much every LP, and I think if you put the best tracks from Deeper Than and Teflon Don on one CD, then you'd have a disc that's close to great
