that the year Nas releases HHID also happens to be one of the best years for Hip Hop in the 2000s, I mean you have Game Theory, Fishscale, F&L, Donuts, Audition, SIHKIH, and of course his own album. Granted the mainstream wasn't in the best of shape and could have been doing better but a bunch of really dope albums as well dropped that almost absolve the mainstream of their sins. And no I don't believe that Nas really though Hip Hop was dead during that time, otherwise he wouldn't have been making music.
