But Big Sean > JMT? What the fuck are you smoking?
Their music is not deep? Are you hearing yourself?
JMT has helped me through a lot, they've influenced my style of living. Their music is what hip-hop is.
Razorable Salvation nearly had me in tears.
In my case, Big Sean is a big pile of garbage, just like Wiz, Drake, Wayne, Ross and 2 Chainz.

I fuck with Jedi Mind Tricks though. When it comes to music, it's not like "it's underground so i won't like it" or "it's mainstream so i won't like it", if a rapper makes good music that appeals to me, I'll like it and that's it.
Immortal Technique has some amazing songs, You Never Know is just one of them. I have the two first Revolutionnary Volumes on my phone, and I also have some JMT. It's not a question of underground or mainstream, it's just what I like.
If I like a popular song like "Headlines" I don't really give a fuck if it's mainstream or not, I would've liked it if it was underground too because I love the music in itself.

Revolutionary wrote:Well, it's like what JamaicanPattlez said, it's a preference thing.
I'm not even an underground dude, Em is my favorite, I like T.I and I listen to rappers like Big Boi and B.o.B
It's just when I want to listen to something I can pump my head to, I wanna listen to the lyrics, not the beat. I wanna listen to the rhymes, not the "aah's" and "yeaah" background voices. I wanna listen to metaphors, punches and multis, not generic rhymes and dated metaphors.
It's my kind of music. I don't give a fuck about rappers' lifestyles.
I don't care if Vinnie raped women, as long as his raps come correct, i'll be a fan.
That's what I look for in rap, I don't care about the musical instruments that much, maybe because I don't listen to anything besides rap.
I have listened to MBDTF once, haven't played it again since then. It's not what I want to listen to, it's great, to you maybe....But it's garbage to me, still won't affect the album or your opinion.
I don't have any Young Money or MMG music, I don't listen to Big Sean, 2 Chainz or Wiz.
You prefer them, that's cool...But I don't agree, and I have the right to.
So, this isn't gonna end if you keep responding like that. Might as well agree to disagree.

Nah I wasn't trying to be a dick, I'm saying if you don't like MBDTF we clearly have vastly different taste. But it is possibly the most universally critically acclaimed rap album of all time. It's bigger than rap.

The most universally critically acclaimed rap album of all time?? really?

Jdubem wrote:^Yeah I have the album and will still listen to some songs off it from time to time. I just think its kind of overrated. I mean yeah the production is amazing to the point its almost untouchable, but the lyrics leave a lot to be desired. I understand he has some good moments, but take the song runaway for example. He didnt say anything clever or memorable in that whole 9 minute song. The Production and Kanye's voice (which I dont even like that much) cant carry the entire song. If its going to be critically acclaimed for being a good rap album then it needs to have some serious rapping in it and Kanye's lyrics just dont cut it. If you are just talking about it musically then I can maybe see where youd get that, but as a RAP album its not that special.
