Aftermathers, you don't know SHIT about producing so shut the fuck up.

"Em doesn't sample beats, so that means he's a fucking God at producing!!!! hurr durrr"
Since when is it against the fucking laws of producing to sample other music? Is there a rule book out there somewhere saying "THOU MUST NOT SAMPLE MUSIC FOR THOU BEATS"? No, there is not.

Eminem is an AVERAGE producer. Nothing he has produced was ever too "creative" or extremely memorable (besides "The Way I Am", but then again he co-produced that).

Other producers *COUGH* KANYE *COUGH* have a distinctive sound in their production as well. Do you ONLY listen to Eminem, have you ever even given other artists outside the Shady camp a chance?

As far as I know, Em' only knows a little bit about beat making.
He programs the drum patterns and sometimes does VST work, but I've mainly seen Resto and those other guys do the keyboards, bass and all that shit.

Em' has stated that he does think of the melodies in his head sometimes.

In short, great producers have made pieces of work that have CHANGED the sound of hip-hop or at least have "re-invented" its sound (such as Kanye bringing back soulful samples with Late Registration). Great Producers have a long and consistent career and have had a couple good prodigies come from them and do well.

Good Producers have a distinct personality to their beats and are relatively consistent. However, they are hardly creative/innovative and simply fit the frame of the game instead of changing it. They have a few classics under them.

Average producers have had hit singles (which someone like Freespeech likes) but they suffer from either a lack of consistency or a lack or originality.

Bad producers- people who tamper with fruityloops and think they are producers lol. Badly mixed tracks, overproduction rampant, musical feel lost.

Great Post

Eminem is an alright, good producer, beacuse he is actually better than many, but he is not as great as the ones momentsgolden list. I agree with all of them :y:

I would have put him there if he hadnt done such a shitty job with Recovery. He had 5 tracks submitted and none which are memorable to me. To make it worse, his "signature" production Blueprint had Eminem having possibly the 2 best produced tracks on it. Plus, i think his beats are way overrated such as that Lord Knows on Take Care. its good, but not jizz worthy IMHO. In short- overproduction

Revolutionary wrote:^I pretty much agree, but what about Khalil?
He made so many classic beats.

He has made good beats. Lots of club bangers too (He made Pump it up!!) but i havent listened to his more underground and early stuff so based off Recovery, fuck him.

Kush will always be legendary though. Best club banger since Make it Rain.

Em produced Superman beat, sohe has to be (at least) good producer. That beat is probably my favorite of all time.

If you use your time and mix some samples, you can create a crazy beat. But i think producers who samples alot much get too much credit. Other people have made sounds from scrach and then they just use some of their sounds and Olala they have made a crazy beat.

Em actully make his own sound and that's great!
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Lose Yourself has one of the greatest beats I've heard. Don't know how people can hate on it.

Cleaning Out My Closet is dope too.

Almostlity, you are a little too close-minded when it comes to Eminem, and too much of a Stanye when it comes to Kanye. You need to balance it.

i think that people here totally underestimate good sampling. Do you know there are hip-hop tracks with 30 samples in one song?!! There is sampling like The Recipe or Spiteful Chant or (dare i say it) No Love that barely change the original and are simple loops. But Premier is well known for intricate difficult and (to some old school heads) great samples that are subtle but add to the tracks intensity. All i'm saying is that sampling is just like any musical instrument and is as good as the person using it. One person makes a catchy Twinkle Twinkle little star another makes a symphony #3. Its all about execution.

Lol, when I was at their concert, they did almost the same, except it was "Fuck Lil Wayne" instead.
