It's a nice thought, but reality looks different.
Thousands (if not millions) of people have been subdued, prosecuted and killed these past millenia in the name of religion. No matter how much said religion originally
promoted the moralities of being a good person.
The unbelievable arrogance some people have to proclaim that their and only their religion is true while everybody else is doomed is what put me off church and religion in general.
Personally, I think there is more to the world than we can see and measure with whatever tools we have at our disposal. It's too complex for any human being to understand. That's all. What that "more" is, I can't say. It's not relevant to my life other than general respect for life (yet I eat meat, but that's another debate entirely).
