And no one would have a problem with Christians if they actually did abide by the bible and the teachers of Jesus but when its just used to justify the discrimination of homosexuals, and the fight against abortion, birth control, stem cell research, evolution, etc. then it's not only morally out of date but a hindrance to human progress.

I remember hearing a good quote by Penn Jillette recently, had to Google it cuz I couldn't remember it verbatim, but this:

"If every trace of any single religion were wiped out and nothing were passed on, it would never be created exactly that way again. It's a nice thought, but reality looks different.
Thousands (if not millions) of people have been subdued, prosecuted and killed these past millenia in the name of religion. No matter how much said religion originally promoted the moralities of being a good person.

The unbelievable arrogance some people have to proclaim that their and only their religion is true while everybody else is doomed is what put me off church and religion in general.

Personally, I think there is more to the world than we can see and measure with whatever tools we have at our disposal. It's too complex for any human being to understand. That's all. What that "more" is, I can't say. It's not relevant to my life other than general respect for life (yet I eat meat, but that's another debate entirely).

Child rape, the spread of AIDS, holy war, genital mutilation of children, persecution of homosexuals/women/black people, suicide bombing... just some of the direct consequences of religion on the world.

To think that a man-made, invented, inconsistent storybook is needed to provide our morals is an insult to mankind.

Eating, playing, sleeping, etc.. Not a care for a "god" and as a fellow creature of this planet i too just focus on being happy and enjoying life without a care of a "god".
