Lampard is not better than Pirlo.Lampard was never able to run a game like Pirlo.Having said that,I do rate Lampard.But not as a complete midfielder in my view.I always thought he was excellent at finishing off moves and scoring goals but not in running a game(also hold Gerrard in the same view btw )
Look at how Pirlo plays,always looking for the ball always in position to recieve and distribute,always finds space for himself and can play a killer pass.This is a proper midfielder like Xavi not Lampard.This is what a midfielder should be doing.Even tonight,He was superb barely ever gave the ball away,truly world class and has been for years since his Milan days.Lampard made his name in a league in which often the midfield is bypassed in favor of a more direct back to front option,This is the main reason i think England have failed in competitions while teams like Italy,germany and Spain always prosper as they have more technical leagues

Actually,They have pretty similar roles now,From what ive seen of Chelsea,Lamps is now playing alot deeper closer to a pirlo type position

I think Ramires benefits from this big time,he is the man doin lampards old job of getting around the pitch.Rate him very highly,one of chelseas best last season imo
