Sure, all their songs pretty much sound the same and are in the same structure, and consist of a bunch of douches overloading on distortion, but the funny thing to me is, in terms of rhyme schemes, theirs are better than the bands people actually like.

I wouldn't say that they had him beat on multis, but they do have one up on a lot of other bands in their genre, I'm sure.

So what we've learned here is that technically good song writing does not necessarily result in something that's interesting, unique, or even worth listening to.

And that's where overly lyrical rappers fall short, in terms of artistic expression. They are doing something that takes skill, and is impressive in it's own right, but in many ways their songs are more akin to verbal athleticism than musical artistry. At least that's how I see it. I can appreciate it, but I don't really feel that it's what the music should be about...or at least it shouldn't be the primary concern.

Of course, none of that last bit apply to Nickelback. They just suck.
