-dre is an AWFUL example of creatively flipping samples, he uses unchanges samples far more than kanye. i love dre too and don't hold that against him.
-kanye has "completely transformed" a shit ton of samples, guess you aren't very familiar with his production discography.
-kanye samples "very well known artists"? stronger and otis are the only songs like that, and maybe hell of a life if you include the iron man inspired hook. let's see, em sampled aerosmith (barely changed it), queen/paul rogers, ozzy osbourne (same as kanye haha), looks like they're equal in that regard.
-kanye isn't a unique figure? lol
-late registration has 0 "3-5 minute orchestrations", literally the only time he has done this is mbdtf
-devil in a new dress is incredibly inspired and is all about his personal life falling apart (amber), guess you don't listen well

For half of my post I was talking about the OP's saying "people that dont respect hiphop respect Kanye because hes artistic" bullshit; I was talking from the POV of someone who IS ignorant of hiphop, saying they wouldnt respect Kanye either. I can see why someone might have gotten confused.

If you read up to I think the 3rd paragraph I flip around and admit that Kanye had transformed many samples and was on that level. My post was very long and I dont blame you for not reading the whole thing.

Yes Kanye is a better producer and a better sampler than Eminem, when Em does sample its usually not very creative. I was just making fun of people praising his artistic samples since Em doesnt even bother with a real sample most of the time and actually makes an original piece of music.

I exaggerated the length of 3-5 minutes, Late Registration is very guilty of the pointless orchestrations though.

Kanye sampling well known artists is a very real thing off the top of my head is: Elton John, Jackson 5, Queen, King Crimson, Arethra Franklin, Black Sabbath. EDIT: Almost forgot the Ray Charles

Thats my bad on Devil in a New Dress. I meant to talk about the intense build up to the incredibly cliched Rick Ross verse that made me want to barf. Not Ye's verse.

I guess so lol, I just don't really like the music they put out and would rather have Joe work on solo projects.

Ye is a hell of an artist, that can't be denied. But personally, I enjoyed him more a few years back. And essentially that was more of when he was a rapper, but I can't blame the guy for branching out. He's a good producer and a big influence on what Hip-Hop will be like for a while. He makes a good variety of music, so he isn't put in a creative box for what he can accomplish.

Also, when you say the likes of Jay and Em haven't made one piece that could be defined as art is when you find people disagreeing. SFM isn't artistic? Lose Yourself? I'm just naming Em at the moment, I know more about him as an artist than some of those you listed.

I agree, all of the people he listed have released artistic pieces of work, Stan and Lose Yourself are great examples.

I would say that Kanye is the most artistic though.

I disagree with a lot of the OP, and I like Kanye West and believe MUSICALLY he's creative and at times innovative, but the thing that made me bang my head against the wall was when you said Ye's legacy will be bigger than Eminem's, Dre's, and Jay's.....no, fuck outta here. Also, the only thing I hate about Kanye is his disgusting fans that dick ride him harder than Eminem, YMCM, and Justin Bieber fans combined. Don't even say it isn't true. Last point, Ye's lyricism isn't bad but it is no where near the best and no where near better than anyone the OP listed.

I'm not sure if serious thinking none of Eminem's work is artistic.

What makes something artistic to you, lol?
