Kendrick Lamar’s already booming popularity might be soaring to new heights pretty soon.
That’s because, Lady Gaga shouted out the Compton rhyme slinger and former XXL Freshman on Twitter during the Fourth of July holiday on Wednesday.
“@kendricklamar What a sweetie calling me this morning to see how I’m doin,” the international superstar tweeted out to her over 26 million followers on Twitter. “See you soon. love from across the pond. #Rigamortis.”
When one of her millions of followers asked her, “Are all of your fans gonna jump on him now?” Gag rifled back a prompt answer.
“I hope so,” Gaga tweeted. “he and his lyrics are the shit.”
Rap fans already knew the latter, but given Gaga’s worldwide reach, a lot more fans know about K. Dot’s lyrical prowess now too.
It’s quite the co-sign leading up to Kendrick’s October 2 release of his highly-anticipated album, good kid, m.A.A.d city.
The Compton wordsmith definitely has momentum on his side, considering his Dr. Dre-assisted single, “The Recipe,” is heating up on radio and on the Internet. He’s kept hot too with stellar featured appearances in the last several months, dating back to his verse on Drake’s “Buried Alive,” and more recently Maybach Music Group’s “Power Circle” and Meek Mill’s “A1 Everything.” He’s also been working diligently, pushing the Black Hippy movement, which counts himself, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul as
members of the crew.
While K. Dot hinted at his album not including a plethora of features, landing one from Gaga after her public high praises for him could be a possibility now. Both are Interscope artists, seemingly making the possible collaboration a bit easier perhaps.
I hope the collaboration doesn't happen unless the song is unbelievably dope. It would also be better if the track is featured on her project so she doesn't even grace Kendrick Lamar's masterpieces. Anyway, I doubt that the collaboration will ever happen, but the co-sign will do him wonders. She has a lot of followers that will do what ever she says, and that includes buying Kendrick Lamar's albums and being his fans.
