First off:
The Weeknd was born Abel Tesfaye. He's from Canada, and yes he's an R&B singer. He currently has three mixtapes out: Thursday, House Of Balloons, and Echoes Of Silence.

The Weeknd is a GREAT singer, he can hit nearly every note Michael Jackson could. The production for his albums are spot-on, with an occasional badly placed beat. The problem with his music however, is that his content is limited. He's a druggie, addicted to pills, weed, alcohol, you name it. It's what his music is based on. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it would be nice if he expanded on his content. Maybe he WANTS to be that way, but that's his choice.
Then you have:
Frank Ocean. He's a member of the group Odd Future, but of course you all knew that. Frank has one mixtape out, nostalgia,ULTRA., and an album that was JUST released, channelORANGE.

Frank is great singer too, he's just not on The Weeknd's level (...yet). However; unlike The Weeknd, Frank's content is much more broader. Ranging from topics about his love interest ("Forrest Gump"), to his own sexuality and how it's troubling him ("Bad Religion"). Then of course, you have "Pink Matter" which discusses answers... to everything about women.
I'm not going to say who I favor, I just decided to open this thread to open some of your minds... we need some music talk other than hip hop going on out hurr.
