I like Pink Matter, but I feel like Andre 3K has half-assed his features lately.. Pink Matter included. I'd say my top 5 is:
1. Forrest Gump
2. Bad Religion
3. Pyramids
4. Super Rich Kids
5. Thinkin Bout You

UBlu wrote:channelORANGE is a perfect album, guaranteed classic from Frank. R&B might not be your thing, but the production, lyrics, and Frank's singing really make the album awesome. Especially since this is coming from a member of OF?
11 plays of "Forrest Gump"? Man I have 43 plays of "Pink Matter", 40 plays of "Bad Religion" and 40 plays of "Forrest Gump". You need to listen to the album in depth, listen to it A LOT, to really get the full experience and start enjoying it. You'll understand the praise once you do. I understand it's being hyped a lot right now since it was just recently released, but honestly it's some of the best music I've heard in a while. Frank really outdid himself, I'll even go to say he outdid The Weeknd's Echoes Of Silence (some songs at least).
I think most of the people on this forum need to start listening to more Frank and Weeknd to really vibe with this type of music. Most of the people here are centered on hip hop and don't accept any other genres. Earl does make an appearance on "Super Rich Kids", however I haven't listened to that song since yesterday so I can't really say how well his verse was. Oh well.
Anyways, I think Pitchfork was right with their review, channelORANGE deserves a solid 9, but I'm glad they gave it a 9.5 at least.

Well, I don't think it's a perfect album because Earl featured on Super Rich Kids. And I have no beef with R&B, nor am I saying the album sucks. Again, you people will be pissed unless I give this album anything less than perfect, so it's kind of counter productive to argue with you. Also, I'm sorry if I am being critical, being critical is after all what tells an artists his short comings so he can make a perfect album. So, again, I...AM...SORRY for being honest, and again, I've never said it wasn't a classic album... But ya know, put more words into my mouth. Also, my apologies for calling it an amazing album, it really was sssssuuuuuccccchhhhh a bad complement. You know, fuck me for giving a honest opinion. Oh and I've now listened to the whole album in entirety 20 times, if that's not good enough for you. BTW, its impressive that you have listened to only three songs 40+ times, it takes less time to do that than going through the whole album as whole like I was. The thing is, and I've said it multiple times. It's an amazing album, I've bought it, I may have listened to it more than you as a whole as well. Keep making excuses for me, but I understand the appeal. Don't say I don't cause that's just insulting. Also, you even proved it isn't perfect because if it was every song would have the same amount of plays because every song would be perfect. Hell, I might like this project more than you.
Edit:
Top 5:
1.) Lost
2.) Pink Matter
3.) Forrest Gump (Can't relate but has a good vibe)
4.) Pyramids
5.) Bad Religion (Disagree with the message)
Also, do Frank Ocean produce his own songs? I thought I read it somewhere.

I've never said it isn't classic but I've said it's not perfect, again.... And fuck I only brought it up because you're scolding me on how many times I should listen to it, maybe I enjoy listening to it as a whole rather than a few songs. Stop being a fucking ass when I'm only using your logic. Anyway, first week projections are around 125K, that's damn impressive for a debut in the modern state of the music industry.Blu wrote:Man1x wrote:UBlu wrote:channelORANGE is a perfect album, guaranteed classic from Frank. Oh I'm sorry man I didn't realize it was such a crime to personally love one song and keep replaying it... doesn't mean I don't enjoy the rest of the CLASSIC album.

Yeah, Frank, Tyler, and a producer known as Malay did the majority of channel ORANGE together. He always has a hand in the production.
