Seriously? That's cool

I'm Swiss. And I have nothing to do with the Maori culture, but my mother is very much into classical music and a friend of her recomended that CD (Kiri Te Kanawa - Maori Songs) and it has been one of my favorites since I'm ten

Also, I love the sound of "Huri Huri" and "E Papa" (here especially the Haka performed by the men).
As I didn't really listen to music until I was sixteen (aside from my mother's music, basically), I even had a talk in class on that album because we had to do our "weekly personal hit parade" (which I absolutely hated, because nobody could relate... Everybody was into Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Punk... And I was into "classical music meets Maori/native music") and have a talk about our favorite artist.

The pieces I mentioned are just some that I think are universally great... Okay, the last one is just one of my favorite songs and not classical music in a traditional way.
Do you play yourself (piano)? I used to play Edvard Grieg a lot...
I've yet to master the skill of piano. Someday when I get a little more free time, I hope I do. Currenty I play guitar. Beautiful insturment, that too.
I didn't master it, either. My skills are very basic, and I never really learned to read keys (despite several years of training - the only songs I can play flawlessly are the once I could convince my teacher to play for me once).
PS - it's cool to see that there are a few classical music listeners. I always thought my taste in music is kind of screwed up
