What amazes me even more is the fact that he has lyrics of other artists by heart. You can see him hyping for the likes of Obie, Jay (Renegade rooftop performance), 50 (notably at SXSW), D12 etc to perfection. Fuck! He still remembers the lyrics to Treach's and Ice-T's songs.

He knows in advance when he has to freestyle. Like he was making up that swag juice song on the way to Westwood because he knew he had to freestyle. I'm not surprised he can do that. Look at his most recent Westwood performance, he fucks up his last freestyle there.

I remember being really impressed watching an old interview where he recalled exactly what Christina Aguilera had said when she was "giggling with her little airhead friends" about him, and they played the actual clip, and it nearly matched up with what he was saying exactly.

well any rapper should be able to memorize their own shit, you listen to it and preform it so much that youll never forget the lyrics. and thats before your preform it live. so many takes in the studio it drives into you. part of being a famous or semi-famous emcee is know your own shit. mac leathal is shit thats why lol.

This. It is pretty amazing that he memories his freestyles, which aren't actual freestyles, just pre-writtens, but yeah, like Spyder said, besides that, all of his verses & his songs he should know by heart, through repetition .

Before he met Dre, he had to memorize his lyrics because studio time wasn't cheap and he had to nail the whole verse in one take. No punching-in no nothing. That's a training that helps a lot. Also, if you spend 3-4 days to memorize a song, it's very hard to forget it ever. Of course, you'll need to remind yourself of it, but with additional day or two of practice, there's no way you'll make a mistake.
