What's your album of the year so far?

I've been obsessively bumping this for the last few weeks and I still can't get enough of it.

Just fucking amazing. It has a lot of variation, excellent production, good lyrics and KRIT makes some incredibly catchy hooks.

Kendrick and Big Boi's albums have to be insane in order to top this for me this year.

Right now, word. I heard it really recently and I love it. Also, Joey Bada$$ 1999 but it's a mixtape.

We should post one song from the album that examplifies why it is so good, and why others who haven't listened to it should listen:

I'm still waiting for my Life Is Good copy to arrive, but I can already say that's my pick.

Krizz Kaliko is so unique. He's an amazing singer and rapper. Can do the chopper flows, slow songs, and many interesting concepts that most can't do without getting someone to feature on the track. Very worth while album with a lot of variety from Kill Shit to Hello Walls to Can't Be The Only One to Kali Baby.

This is mine also :y:

I think some of the upcoming albums I'm looking forward to will take over it. You never know, though.

Mine too

Apollo Brown & O.C. - Trophies

Image

Ab-Soul - Control System

These two albums for me and hard to compare them for me, just two different styles...

Of course:

Nas - Life Is Good
Krizz Kaliko - Kickin' & Screamin'

are very strong albums too.

Either channel ORANGE or Control System. They are different genre's so I play them when I prefer one over the other. A runner up for the rap category would be Habits & Contradictions and Some Nights was a good album as well just not any where near my top 3. For Control System, I'd choose Book of Soul and from channel ORANGE I'd say either the first half of Pyrimad (second half is dope to but the sounds in the first 5 minutes >*) or Lost.

@Shady.Recordsyo, is the first album worth listening?

anyway, I did not like K.R.I.T's album, I usually hate Southern Rap and they're accents, and most of the content in the album, I just can't get into it, but I enjoyed the listen a little bit...

anyway, my favorite album of the year so far, BY FAR:

I'm glad I found out about Ab-Soul thanks to this place, what a masterpiece this album is, I put this on the level of Section.80 tbh

I also liked Dizzy Wright's SmokeOut Conversations. As for non-albums, I like every track on Machine Gun Kelly's Half Naked & Almost Famous EP (yes including Wild Boys), and Yelawolf's Heart of Dixie mixtape is worth a mention. It's been a good year so far

dude if you haven't check'd him out yet you'd proly better start off with his "Fantastic Damage" album 2nd this album and then go for the rest

Now I'm gonna check that Control System album.

i would lie if i said i gave any album This year a proper listen. Closest one would probably be Slumdon Bridge or Klusterfuk since i'm still in awe of these two artists.

That said, there have been many great tracks i loved. Notably
MMG- Power Circle
Kendrick Lamar- The Recipe, War is My Love
Hopsin- West Coast Eclipse, Matter of Time, The End
Slaughterhouse- Monsters in my Head
Clams Casino- Instrumental tape
Songs of the year

Image

Tech N9ne- Gods, Ft Krizz Kaliko and Kutt Calhoun.

Tbh, my most anticipated albums this year are "good kid, m.A.A.d. city," Ab-Soul's album, Schoolboy Q's album, Eminem's album, Jay-Z's album (?), Kanye's album, Knock Madness, and I guess I'll check Jay Rock's. Oh shit! How could I forget J Cole x Kendrick!!
