People seem to get off when they know an artist that isn't very well recognised.

I was at a party where someone had heard of him (before ill mind 4) and he was ranting how he hopes he doesn't blow up because then 'idiots' will like him.

How fucking ironic, lmao.

Haha, yeah. I mean, it's not like someone can take away your knowledge on the genre or the artist from you. There are millions of Eminem fans yet I can school most of them. I like the artists I love to be recognized and respected, especially if they are doing that without selling out or whatever. Hopsin is making quality music, and if more people start to respect quality then how the fuck can that be bad? Aren't we all bitter at shitty stuff getting attention, but now that something good is achieving that, it's a problem. :facepalm

Just now got to listen to this and its pretty fucking awesome. Cant lie I wasnt really expecting it to be great because his more recent stuff Ive been disappointed by and Im mostly talking about ill mind 4 and hop madness, but this exceeded my expectations.

The message is good. Ive never seen a rapper run with it like that before either. His execution was :worship: The beat is good and compliments his rapping nicely. I was a pretty big stan of his before, but the hype had died down somewhat. This just brought it back.

And to the person who said his fat statement line was whack. It might have been on its own, but he was using it to describe a girl getting herself pregnant. Literally that is a fat statement so I thought it was good. I was worried about how Knock Madness might turn out, but if it is like this then hes gonna be making some serious noise that people cant ignore.

Who gives a fuck? A lot more people "like" Hopsin's video because he's up close and personal with his fans doing live streams and posting on his Facebook all the time. His fans are a lot more loyal. He's a young gun, he's got a huge buzz. Slaughterhouse has to follow the Shady Records orders, who gets their orders from Interscope. Sure, their music could definitely step up a notch, but that's the way it goes I guess.

That's not the way it goes. It's actually ridiculous how someone from his basement created a bigger following than 4 well known guys.

He's still writing transparent set-up lines for his multis.

The best writers are able to disguise multi-connecting set-up lines as punchlines in and of themselves. When you look at a 4-bar multi string and you can't decide which line the writer came up with first (IE, the real punchline and not a set-up in disguise), that's when it's dope as fuck...given that the punchlines are good in the first place, that is.

I agree with this. It makes it sound pretty amateur-ish. He compromises his word choice for his rhyming too much.

This is much better than the last one, though. he cut out a lot of the stupid similies/shit wordplay. It's more focused.

What were the stupid similies/shit wordplay? I thought they were all pretty funny and fit the atmosphere of the track bar the "sucks so much I get blowjobs from it" line.

Anyways, I agree with your point on word choice, but don't think it happened that often in the 5th installment. The first part of the song is pretty fucking awesome. I would say it only starts to become noticeable when he starts talking about bitches. The "got herpes" line was kind of out there, "act patient" doesn't really make sense.. but other than that it was pretty cool.

The real niggaz part was the weakest imo, Why do black people gotta be the only ones who can't evolve? <- lol.

Anyways, I still loved this track. Awesome message, awesome delivery, awesome beat.. Some of the lines may be a little sketchy but overall its great. And LOL at Slaughterhouse. This track > anything I have ever heard from Slaughterhouse honestly. . That group is so fucking boring, and has been made worse with their attempts at mainstream appeal.

Hehehe.. I realize I made an extremely bold statement, and completely understand how a fan of Slaughterhouse might take offense to it. ..but that's really how I feel. I prefer this song over any song I have ever heard from Slaughterhouse.

Now, to answer your question, yes... I've given Slaughterhouse more than a fair listen and even have "Move On" on my computer. The song is just OK, and in no way do I think it's better than Ill Mind of Hopsin 5. They just take turns rambling semi-introspectively without a clear goal until it gets close to the chorus. It's unfocused, incoherent, with some pretty shit lines.

"I ain't into fucking my family like incest"
"My flows superb, I love pauly rosenburg" <-- How are those things related, lol.

Plus, lines like this make me dislike the song and group even more:

Ask Me About Swagg Ima Change Tha Topic
To Lyrics An Than Brag <--? stupid
Plus Look At U Like A Fag <--? stupid

The lines are bad enough as is, but in context with their recent Shady releases ... WTF. He is just a hypocrite with bullshit like this dropping:

Tell her she could crash here;
Cute face with a pretty butt, pretty butt
Shake got an ass saying giddy-up, giddy-up
Throwing titty bucks, put it down, that’s a pick me up
Money too long for me to try to titty fuck
Car murder like
Even got the valet workers like
You scratch that, and it’s one thing
Cause I fuck around and you gonna hear the guns sing
Red bottoms hopping out the coupe
We got it tied up, even when we outta the loop
I tell ‘em

...but even with these glaring faults, the WORST thing about Slaughterhouse is that they are not fun to listen to. Nothing about them screams creativity, or makes me want to listen to what they say. They are boring, unimaginative, and EXTREMELY average. With their combined strengths, they might make one interesting rapper.

Joey is a talented lyricist when he chooses to be, but his delivery is fucking dry. He puts me to sleep. He sounds like he is putting himself to sleep. Royce can't stay on topic for shit, but by far has the best delivery. Joel is just your average internet rapper. Nothing too good, nothing too bad. Crooked I...lol This dude can fucking rhyme his ass off man. He is good at rhyming, like, really really good. But that's it. Nothing has to make sense. Nothing has to be relevant, coherent, or intelligible, as long as it rhymes. The epitome of "lyrical spiritual miracle".

And that is my honest opinion on Slaughterhouse. I really want them to prove me wrong. Get their shit together and drop a classic, but so far, meh.

Up to taste.

Two completely different types of songs. IMOH5 talks about Hopsin's view of the rap game and problems with girls, people from the hood, etc.
Move On is SH talking about shit they moved on from like personal struggles, label issues, childhood and misnomers.
When you look at it that way, it's very coherent as it goes verse to verse.

"I ain't into fucking my family like incest"
What? It's a clever wordplay revolving around what he's rapping about. You're taking this shit out of context.
"My flows superb, I love pauly rosenburg" <-- How are those things related, lol.
Again, out of context:

"I mean that with all respect to Paul and Shect
But Ryan and Marshall is all you get
My flows superb, I love Pauli Rosenberg
What I say in a track those just words"

Ryan and Marshall is all you get and it's good enough because his flow is superb and he loves Paul Rosenberg. Makes perfect sense in the context of the song.

Plus, lines like this make me dislike the song and group even more:

Ask Me About Swagg Ima Change Tha Topic
To Lyrics An Than Brag <--? stupid
Plus Look At U Like A Fag <--? stupid

What Joe's saying here is that the rap game is all about swag nowadays, but he'll change the topic to lyrics and then brag because he's good at them. Plus look at you like a fag since you got "swag".

The lines are bad enough as is, but in context with their recent Shady releases ... WTF. He is just a hypocrite with bullshit like this dropping:

Tell her she could crash here;

Obviously you don't understand Throw It Away's concept AT ALL. After the negative criticism for My Life about them selling out, with impeccable humor, they made a song that's shallow as fuck and talks about money and girls and parties and shit. It's a brilliant concept song. And catchy.

...but even with these glaring faults, the WORST thing about Slaughterhouse is that they are not fun to listen to. Nothing about them screams creativity, or makes me want to listen to what they say. They are boring, unimaginative, and EXTREMELY average. With their combined strengths, they might make one interesting rapper.

Up to taste, really. You don't like SH? Okay. There's a shitload of fans who do. And for me, they're hella fun to listen to. They are brilliant. They aren't extremely average, they are 4 of the top lyricists in the rap game EVER.

I can agree that Joe has a very dry delivery. Royce is a master at rap; he's as versatile as they come. Joell is probably the best in the group now. Listen to their SH album and their new shit. He's dominating the rhymes and emotion. Joell is better than any internet rapper I've heard. Crooked I is what he is: dope. He makes sense if you think hard enough about the lyrics. At first they seem "uhhh" then you read it/hear them again and again then you get the nuances of what he's saying.

And that is my honest opinion on Slaughterhouse. I really want them to prove me wrong. Get their shit together and drop a classic, but so far, meh.

And that's just your opinion. We all have opinions. They're like assholes, remember? Just some are more shittier than others.

Aaaaaaaand that's that.
