a lot of people talk about how if Eminem was black, he wouldn't be as good, or he "would of sold half".

Who on this forum actually fuckin believes that? I honestly don't think his skin color changes his lyrics. he lyrically is the greatest of all time in my opinion (sorry to all the pac and biggie fans, its true.) But if he was black, he wouldn't of lived the life he lived which lets he relive some of the stories in his songs. Don't hate cuz this is just another topic of a repeated thread, I just wanna hear your guys' opinions on this (don't troll me Geno. your words hurt )

I think we're having the same discussion in the Hip Hop domain.

No one has EVER said his race has to do with skill. It's his SALES that would be affected. And it's true, the only reason SSLP sold as much as it did was because on the My Name Is vid, there was a little white boy rapping and girls said "wow he's a cute white boy, I should buy his shit!"

First, you can't compare the years around 2000 with 2012. A lot changed, especially when it comes to the music business (there's an entirely new generation of people buying music, tastes change).

Second, you don't seriously compare the hype around Eminem with Hopsin's success, right?

On a serious note... Anybody who says that Eminem is an average rapper, is plain ignorant.
As InsaneTRex94, Hesky (in another thread) and I pointed out: Surely, the heights his fame reached were influenced by the colour of his skin, but it doesn't make his skill as a rapper and musician in general any less extraordinary. He's everything but average.
However, haters are gonna hate, no matter what. Besides, it seems to be cool for (internet) Hip Hop fans to hate on Eminem these days, or at least that's my impression.
