Nelly

Excuse a stupid question I probably should know the answer to~

Butttt ~ why doesn't Nelly get more recognition in hip hop other than Just a dream and a few older things?

I realize he's more RnB now.. but in the past he wasn't and he has spots of hip hop.

solid answer.

imo he started letting people down. in 2000 he was DOOOPPPEEEE. I loved listening to his shit, and everybody listened to it. all the parties were bumpin his shit, and the dudes i chill with now used to listen to it all the time. but when he came out with that bull shit brass knuckles, it didn't catch on. then he just became a rapper who joked around, and tried to advertise stuff.

cuz the cool thing to do is hate on anything that's different

Nelly sung, and rapped, he made bangers, but people hated on him

Limp Bizkit was rock and rap, made some bad ass tracks, everybody hated

Drake sings and raps, but he's with young money, and although, yeah, some of his shit is wack, the cool thing to do is hate on young money (some are young money dick riders tho)

basically, if it's different, ppl will hate

i'm on twitter and the fucking trending topic is Miley's new haircut, i get it, she's a teen slut, hey look she cut her hair and posted a picture, PEOPLE ARE SAYING SHE JUST WANTS ATTENTION

So, when those same ppl get a haircut and post a pic, are they seeking attention?

people just like to hate shit cuz it's easy to hate on things that are different

Dilemma, Just a dream, #1, Nellyville, Pimp Juice, Gone, over and over.

Just a handful of his great songs. Get out of here.

I'm not even a huge fan tbh, but to say he's not ( I only like Nellyville as a whole album, and then a handful of songs)
A great artist is wrong.

Hesky i know, i just named a few cuz i don't feel like goin on all day about people who hate on what's cool to hate on, i know ppl who talked shit about Nelly's music but while going thru their music collection they had Nelly's music, they hated on Limp Bizkit hard, but they had Limp Bizkit's music.

people will talk shit about what's cool to hate on so they can fit in with other's, but in reality they are fans of the music.

Yes he can. His flow is crazy, and very melodic.

And he pumped out hit after hit, dude is (was) a great entertainer. I loved Nelly albums.

I'm not sure why Nelly isn't ever really mentioned, he was definitely one of my favourites back in the day because he was rap but a bit of a breather from the shit I was growing up around - Xzibit, Dre, Eminem, Snoop, Ice Cube, Wu-Tang, DMX etc.

ayyeee. some one who agrees with me.

My answer would be that it's tough to stay relevant for 12 years in the rap game. The fact that he can still put out hits is pretty impressive.

Yeah I remember getting Country Grammer in 2000 and playing the hell out of it. Still his finest material.
