I swear, Em is the definition of unphotogenic. As in, uglier in pictures than in reality to an incomprehensible degree. It's baffling to me why he poses like that, or makes that face, or why he doesn't put his goddamn hood DOWN. (Seriously, that's going to drive me nuts if he insists on having his head in a cocoon like that for the next year or two). He's (still) a good-looking guy. Honest. You can see it in candid pics, in video, etc. He's still pretty cute/hot, and he actually does look more or less like an aged version of himself in 8 Mile. Attractive for a 39-40 year old. But why oh why does he dress like that and make that face... It's like the middle aged man version of the 'duck face'... it looks stupid and ugly. And it's not like that's his natural "neutral" expression. He appears (from videos) to look perfectly normal and decently attractive, in person.

Anyway, sorry to rant. I know it's not relevant to his music, but. Carry on.

^ he is certainly unphotogenic. Also the cap and hoodie doesn't help. he would look a lot better without them, anyway I don't think he really cares much about his looks.
