Ahead of my time?

Postby Zellomugi » Aug 17th, '12, 00:08

Well I'm 16 and for some reason i just think of multis that make sense like crazy like it's nothing
for the past year or 2 i've listened to nothing but eminem, big pun, nas, and big l like crazy and it rubbing off on me.

I can't focus on school because all i focus on is rap, like i have 7 notebooks and 200 peices of paper with random lyrics and shit. Should i try to become a rapper? I'm not bad or anything, better than everyone else at my age imo. (not trying to sound cocky). Like i'll be freestyling with people and they'll be saying stupid 1 syllable crap and i'll just throw 2-5 syllable multies.

I am the kind of person in highschool that doesnt fit in, i could, but i just dont try, im too mature and can't relate to shit people my age talk about. I'm just so different and use rap as an outlet, just fucking around with words and shit.

I hate ofwgkta and shit and i was wondering if i could make it and rid music of that bullshit fake horrorcore crap and take shit in a different direction, just thinkin out loud.... :coffee:

Check the link in my signature, and then take a look of the different links I have in that thread. It should give you a perspective on some things.

Pursuing rap as a career? Well...it's not an easy game homie, you gotta be original. It takes one thing to be a good writer but another to be a good rapper and even more to balance the two. I wouldn't suggest dropping everything to pursue rap, however, I strongly support you continuing the practice of it WHILE doing school.

I mean, you're only 16 right? As much as you love something right now, it could change in the future. At least graduate high school, high school is easy as hell. Then see where your life is at that time.

You should start dropping some writings in the Creative Writing section too, every writer is open to constructive criticism - and we could use some fresh blood.

ok i'll drop something

Whoa... don't get ahead of yourself man. It doesn't matter how good you are, pursuing a rap career is pretty damn hard. There's millions of people out there trying to become the next "big thing."

You might be the best wordsmith of our time, but that won't guarantee that you actually get noticed and get big. You'll probably get a nice hype in the underground, but breaking out of that bubble is hard to do.

I suggest finding new hobbies, expressing yourself through different ways. You might think you're "original" now, but I'm really sure there's a dozen carbon copies of you, somewhere out there in the world.

Sorry for sounding so negative man, but statistically speaking you probably have a 0.8% chance of making it big.

if only your opinion was actually worth something.

and you know all this, because you can predict the future right? why are you online? you should be telling people about upcoming catastrophes, holding up a sign telling people the world is near. get a hobby, get off the internet, do something with your life.

He has a point, it's hard to break into the game regardless of your talent. Keep going to school, and rap. Multi task and have something to fall back on.

The same as what everyone else said. Don't get angry because they are being realistic with you. There's a lot of people here who are sick writers but when you record a on a microphone, it's an entirely different game. It will take you years to learn how to choose the right microphone, the right studio set-up, and to master a mixing program so that your music sounds professional.

I'm not saying you can't do it, but you're not better than everybody else your age.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1l-dFpPVwk

That guy did that when he was fourteen. Recorded all the music at his house, mixed it all himself, recorded the music video, mixed it himself.

I'm guessing he's better than you. Like everyone else said, your confidence is great! But you don't want your confidence to turn into cockiness.
