All i was saying was that sometimes people in general need to simply ENJOY the album and become fan.
Oh okay, lol.
Well I know what you're saying but what I'm saying is... me personally; I can't enjoy something and pretend to myself that I don't. What I'm saying is, when you enjoy it - it's knee-jerk, you shouldn't have to go "hmm, let me stop not enjoying this and try to enjoy it".
When I enjoy things it's automatic; so this / these threads are not even thought up.
I can't enjoy it, if it's not enjoyable to me, just inherently. I tried sitting there and just enjoying it; I have no interest in picking things apart for the sake of a forum thread or to argue: I WANT to like it, I want to hear some classic hip-hop and I believe SH have potential.
So on every level I completely relax and just aim to listen to enjoyable music; but with this album (or any music I don't enjoy) - my potential enjoyment was interrupted by me noticing I wasn't enjoying it lmao. That's why I then react like this. If I could just enjoy it, believe me, I would be!
And I genuinely didn't hear many dope lines on the album. That's why I am so disappointed and why I am talking about it like this: I wish I had moments where I was like "wow, that was clever" or 'rewind' moments, but they were virtually non-existent to me. But as you say, and I agree: the album does overpower their vocals a lot, but regardless, I feel it's a lyrical dud.
The verse which sticks out most in my mind is Crooked I's "Our House" verse; I didn't hear anything truly memorable from Budden, which was very surprising as, as I say, he's my favourite member; he came out with better lines (MUCH MUCH MUCH better) on any of his cypher performances.
It feels like they rapped better on tracks leading up to this album than they did this album. I liked everyone's verse on "Session One" for example; I didn't even hear anything as memorable.
I like "Flip a Bird" and "Frat House"; but that's mostly for the hooks / vibes of the tracks, I dunno, for me there was just hardly any memorable lyrics on the album. Which is hugely surprising and bizarre, given that's what they do. I mean, I was looking forward to some crazy punchlines; I at least thought I was going to have this meaty sandwich of lyrical fun to bite in to, but it's just dull
