OKAY, here's what I have to say:

Right now, I believe Kendrick is better than Eminem. In terms of lyrics, delivery, flow, hooks, whatever.

I'm pretty sure Black Hippy can surpass those numbers, but I don't want to see Black Hippy end up like D12. I don't want Kendrick to get all the shine while the other members are left in his shadow, sort of like what happened with D12.

I also think Black Hippy >> D12

No, because it'd be retarded to compare sales from the early 2000's to now. In terms of popularity, every Black Hippy member is currently more popular than every D12 member that isn't Eminem. That's going by twitter/Facebook/YouTube Views of solo career material. Also, Black Hippy is currently relevant, where as D12 isn't.

The part where D12 really fucked up at is using Em's limelight. If the non-white D12 members had created their own fan base first, had some hype and buzz going for each member, then they could have been a good group and maybe would have still been active.

Whereas with Black Hippy, the individual members are all getting buzz, no one even thinks of Kendrick as the sponge of fame. People really do fuck with Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q, and Jay Rock.

You asked if Black Hippy can surpass those numbers in OP, and D12 isn't relevant today and barely exists. Black Hippy doesn't have a Slaughterhouse vibe, and of course they came together like every other group in the history. Not like how Slaughterhouse formed though. Black Hippy was formed by them becoming real close friends on the label and then Schoolboy Q suggested the idea in 2009. Kendrick and Jay Rock knew each other 6 years before the group formed, they knew both Ab-Soul and Q 1 year before it formed. They have a chemistry that they formed in the studio before they even considered being a group.

Edit: And, no I hope on my life they don't become the modern D12 in any way.

Yeah, it's a different ballgame for sure, but that's how it is nowadays I guess. I still don't know, did they come up together like D12 (Em getting famous, bringing his crew with him) or did they join together like SH? If it's the latter then it seems like it's how most groups are doing it lately. Seems to be working lol.

Also, I don't agree with the part about them maybe still being active if they had more solid solo fan bases. It's possible, but they all still drop solo music anyway, so it's irrelevant when discussing D12. I think the main reason they don't do anything is because of Proof's passing. He was the leader, not Em.

@Man1x, makes sense. I didn't know that. They still weren't a group before being signed though, like D12. In my opinion they took the Slaughterhouse route making a "super group" of talent. :y:

TDE is the label they were signed to, it isn't a major label. It's independent. Anyways, they formed a group before they were relevant. They had no attention in 2009 when no body cared or really knew what Black Hippy was.

In terms of sales, they can't be beat because of the way the music industry is today. In terms of popularity, they won't win.

Considering only four people posted in the thread, I'd say the actual discussion hasn't started.

I don't know who Black Hippy are but they automatically win for not having Bizarre in their group.

I agree about Black Hippy > D12.

But you are crazy if you think they'll do these kind of numbers. Kendrick won't ever push 200k or more.

With the exposure Kendrick is getting from Dre, I'm pretty sure he can.

Look at that cover, then look at the caption to the left: "Next big star"

Idk about the rest of the crew, but I'm sure Kendrick can push well over 200K

Here's what I got to say, sales wise D12 would be more successful, but in reality Black Hippy would be better according to lyrics, delivery, flow, hooks, whatever.
