Is the art of rap freestyle a sign of what's to come?

Postby Hopsinshadie » Sep 6th, '12, 22:48

How would you like it if the art of rap portrended Eminem's next album? Is that a good style?

It was probably made around 2010, so he won't sound like that on his next album. I like it though.

No, considering that was filmed in 2011. But I do see him fucking around with that style more.

I dunno... I like the continued focused on rhyme and intensity though.

The style he raps that freestyle in reminds me of "Underground" though, which is a bit of a step backwards. Sounds like he's kind of desperately scrambling to offend, lots of swearing etc.

Yes there is. He could make an album full of tracks like Stan, The Reunion, As The World Turns, etc. Tons of story telling. There's ENDLESS possibilities.

Or he could make more songs in 3rd person like Almost Famous reflecting on his career.

but isn't that just repeating what he's done?

Not really, it was just a freestyle lol. Usually they're about rhyming as best as you can and saying funny things. At least, those are the kinds of freestyles I like.

I wouldn't put much weight into something from over a year old that wasn't even a song.

Like how the Tim Westwood freestyles didn't foreshadow anything.

Yeah but I like those freestyles too, I love that shit. But on this one he sounded like he did on "Underground" a little, where nothing really resonated, just kind of, scrabbling.

His 09 Westwood is incredible.

Covered? he's not a reporter. This is my problem with people who just... there's only so much he or anybody can do if you're just doing a literal, lyrical showcasing of your life: yes.

However, why does everybody think any material he writes has to be about him, or about his career... it's just such a limited mindset. Since when was self-obsession a must.

There's, infinite, possibilities. You don't always have to rap about something for one thing, as in telling a story or saying how you feel; there's so many ways to express yourself and so so many things he could use his talents for. Thinking like that is just so, stifling, which is why he keeps boxing himself in to a corner every time he runs out of 'new life' now. It doesn't have to be that.

I'm sure people have said that for a while now, but he continues to released records with different material.

I think Eminem should definitely rap with an attitude and throw in some epic beats. He should sound like:

The Warning
The Art of Rap Freestye
Not Afraid
My Darling
Beautiful

Eminembase, what should he rap about then if you are so confident in what you are saying?

Eminembase, when Eminem first came out many of us really believed that he wanted to Kill Kim, we really believed he had brain damage, he was the real slim shady, and that he was a criminal.

But what about now? We wouldn't believe it anymore because he showed us his human side too much. That's why in 3 am, we knew Em was just rapping to rap. We didn't really think he wanted to kill.
