Why they are bad: Let me make this clear, I am not talking about flow or delivery. Those are mostly subjective, and I think both of them are good in that area. I am talking about their lyrics. They sacrifice far too much to rhyme well. The reason Eminem's da goat is because he was able to rhyme at a masterful level without sacrificing the intelligibility of his lyrics. It often sounded conversational, you heard the lyrics and the dope rhymes just fell in place. The shit was coherent as fuck, and is extremely difficult to replicate. There are so many layers to good writing and he was a master at it. On the other hand...
Tech and Crooked force the shit out of their rhymes. It doesn't even have to make sense half the time, and they know it, and they don't give a shit because people just fucking eat it up.
Then I let you witness shit when it hit the ceiling
The niggas willing to give the listeners the sickest feeling
Like mixing some Benadryl and penicillin
^That is a bunch of bullshit. Like, you guys seriously think that's good? That is incredibly lazy writing, or incredibly good writing for an idiot. Before you get absorbed into "woah, look at all those rhymes..." Fucking STOP. Just STOP. What is he saying?! What the hell is he trying to portray?? Listen for the meaning. Like GOT DAMN people. Anyone can string together a bunch of rhyming gibberish. And Crooked and Tech do it, all the damn time.
And yeah you could say it's all stylistic, listen to the atmosphere they are creating it's like abstract art all the shit doesn't have to blah blah blah. Whatever, it would be a lot easier to appreciate their music if I wasn't able to write the same type of shit when I was fifteen.
It's like, at a certain level that shit just doesn't impress you anymore. I hear a Tech or Crooked verse and know immediately what it's going to sound like. Then they rap. Then I'm right.
So, here's my question to yall: Why are they good? Maybe I haven't heard enough, post me some of their illest shit and prove me wrong. I want to discover dopeness, but can't help my natural inclination to be unimpressed when something sub-par is passed off as greatness. PROVE ME WRONG!
