Will G.O.O.D Music spark Eminem to make a Shady 2.0 album?

Postby Inkredible » Sep 11th, '12, 11:33

Surely Eminem knows that right now G.O.O.D music are running the game. Kanye, Pusha, Big Sean, 2 Chainz etc... are on everything atm. Big Sean's new mixtape has 1+ million downloads already, and basically the whole hip-hop community is anticipating Cruel Summer, which will probably be one of the biggest albums of the year.

I think Eminem knows this, and we all know how competitive Eminem is and to me doesn't look like the guy who doesn't want to be the best, or have the best label. So I ask you this question, will this release and the success of G.O.O.D music prompt Eminem to round up the label and make a Shady 2.0 album? A label album with Em, 50, Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf would be highly anticipated by the majority of the hip-hop community and has the potential to be great.

Discuss.

No, because, and this is coming from a GOOD Music fan, this album is gonna suck.

I think the problem is that Kanye is treating this album just like any other. He's not paying any particular attention to showcasing specific people. And that just doesn't work for a label album.

I'm all for short albums and less filler, but this isn't right. The label has 11 artists, but the album dismisses 3 of those and adds a dozen outsiders. This supposedly real tracklist is just completely nonsensical.

I don't think GOOD Music as an entity has the power to convincingly make a compilation album. The energy from the artists is being sucked dry for the album, and it's not going to live up to the hype. Plus, if it doesn't sell well, the label is basically gonna be held back in the artistic sense.

How will this failure affect Shady? Em'll not do it, which is a real shame, because besides the MMG albums, the Re-Up was one of the better label compilations. Also, the state of Shady as a label takes this far away from the realm of possibility. D12's dead by this point, 50 doesn't really care, Yelawolf has seemed to go off on his own with Slumerican and Slaughterhouse hasn't blown up in the way they wanted to.

So, in short, no.

Maybe after his next album...I see him concentrating on his own shit at the moment, which is what he needs to do. Hope he's in the lab making beats and dropping verses at least as good as Here Comes The Weekend. I can see a Shady 2.0 album after the hype from his next album dies down a little. Maybe drop the album early 2013 and the Shady 2.0 album in mid to late 2013.

Then who is?

I don't think a Shady 2.0 album would work... they tried with The Re-Up but that was a fail. The artists on Shady's roster are weak.

They need to make this album. Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse need to be able to bring their music to the table on an album Ems highlighting. Yela and SH would get the shine they need to make there shady sophomore albums. 50 needs to get back in the game without selling out, and by doing a Shady 2.0 album plus his new album, he'd be set for the next few years. I personally liked Cruel Summer and that album is popular on the radio without sounding poppy or corny, Eminem can definently do the same thing if he puts effort into it. It could have features from Dre, Kendrick, Black Hippy in general, maybe Funk Volume and Odd Future. If they do it right, shit could be classic.
