It's going to be shown on VH1!

...In addition, VH1 has acquired Ice-T's feature-length documentary "Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap" for its Emmy Award-winning "Rock Doc" franchise.

SPECIALS

"SOMETHING FROM NOTHING: THE ART OF RAP" Premieres Thursday, September 13th at 9PM ET/PT

Directed by rapper Ice-T, "Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap" goes deep into the heart of rap and hip hop music, featuring masters of the game including: Afrika Bambaataa, Big Daddy Kane, B-Real, Chuck D, DJ Premier, DMC, Doug E. Fresh, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Grandmaster Caz, Ice Cube, Ice-T, Kanye West, KRS One, Marley Marl, MC Lyte, Melle Mel, Nas, Q-Tip, Raekwon, Rakim, Redman, Run, Salt, Snoop Dogg and others. More than a performance documentary, "The Art of Rap" gets up close and personal with these legends of the game to share insightful, deep and often hilarious revelations as well as classic raps, new rhymes and acappellas. The documentary will air as part of VH1's Emmy Award-winning "Rock Doc" franchise.

"Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap" is executive produced by Paul Toogood, Jorge Hinojosa, Simon D. Pearce, David Kaplan, Alison Toogood and Jelena Nikolic.

I don't. :'( So I'm going to have to buy it. And unfortunately VH1 is probably the channel the TV series is going to be shown on once that gets going, so I'm just screwed.

More info on the DVD. We already knew the release date, and here's details on the content:

Think Tank have announced that The Art Of Rap, a documentary directed and hosted by Ice-T, will be released on DVD, VOD, and other digital formats on September 18.

Besides the film, the DVD will also include a commentary by Ice-T and producer Paul Toogood, a featurette called “The Making Of Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap” with Dr. Gaye Theresa Johnson, Assistant Professor, Black Studies Department, University of California, Santa Barbara, as well as deleted interview segments with such people as Eminem, Ice Cube, and KRS-One.
