Question

Postby CrashBand » Sep 18th, '12, 14:19

I remember reading Eminem thinks his pre-TES flow was 'behind the beat' or that he issn't happy with his flow on those albums.

But for me songs like Criminal / Who Knew / Rock Bottom are examples of a flawless flow.

What's going on here?

Even if someone doesn't agree that his flow was bad, could they explain why Eminem thinks so?

The best answer you will get. EmineBase might say the same thing, but in a 7 paragraph post.

I want someone to specifically explain what's bad about or what Em thinks is bad about it.

How can he find flaws in a flawless song, lmao.

I'm pretty sure he said this referring to the SSLP, in hype for the MMLP where he claimed to have fixed the problem.

Nah, he said it about MMLP.

"Whatever You Say I Am" by Anthony Bozza wrote:"I listen to my older shit, even from just two years ago, from the second record, and I can’t stand it. I think I fell behind the beat too much.”

That's what I don't like about that second album-I'd listen, and I'd be like, Why am I so far behind that beat? [voice rising] The first album was TERRIBLE - like, I was playing catch-up with the beat constantly."

Guess I had it a little backwards :sweating:

I honestly don't see why he says/thinks this. I wonder if he still does?

It's because his skill improved so much since those albums, his brain changed, that made him see things he didn't see/hear before. you can't see it because your skill level is not yet -probably- at his level. the brain of a skilled person is literally different than a normal person.

it's like when you'r learning to draw, you draw something, you think it's perfect, doesn't need improvement. when you come back to it months after a lot practice, you see things you didn't see before, you see that the eyes isn't right or whatever, you think it's awful and can't imagine how you ever thought it was great.

also he's perfectionist.

That's lovely.

But I'm asking for specific examples of what he's talking about.
