:laughing: I'm wondering who rappers like Eminem, SH, Kendrick etc.. qualify as "wack mc's" when they rap about them in songs, since they all collab/like those who are considered wack.

Not talking about Yeezus.

Joe Budden is probably the best in Slaughterhouse... :coffee:

And just so you know, real hip-hop artists don't consider what you consider "wack" because they judge by a different factor than whatever you all are judging on. Most of it is word of mouth made popular, which incites aimless hate. Anyway, they judge artists on originality and how the final product of their music sounds, not the amount of multis cramped in a bar. They've made this apparent in many interviews, not just Slaughterhouse. For example, everyone at TDE thought Gunplay was "wack" except Kendrick and look, they produced Cartoon & Cereal where they both murdered that shit because Kendrick saw the originality in Gunplay's work that no less did. He's no carbon-clone.

Well...

It's all subjective...

Yeah, my point is y'all shouldn't feel so shell shocked when your favorite artist (I'm not talking to you Menzo because you aren't closed minded when it comes to rap, at least I believe) is bumping music to enjoying himself and not putting an artist on a do-not-listen-under-all-circustances list because the general consensus among hipsters is that they are too wack. However, in reality some of the artists you probably think are dope are massively excepted as wack because they promote cheesy themes such as KJOMD & E.B.A.H. for example. I don't like to take either side of this arguement because it's better to be open minded and listen to everything instead of putting yourself in a box that doesn't matter in the long run. If an artist is truly wack they tend to fade from public memory as soon as they stop pumping out music, and this stupid internet war among music fans about who is better than who is just a large waste of time.

I understand people prefer certain artists over others, and there's nothing wrong with that. Promote that idea, but have a reason and not bash others for their preferences. Keep the argument friendly.

@bigray, what's your point? I've never said I hate Eminem's music, but you know you're lying to yourself if you try to say this is the same man that made his first three albums.

@Blu, missed you too :wub:

Not to mention, all these rappers have most likely met each other and like their personalities. For example, Royce co-signs the shit out of Big Sean, but a lot of Hip Hop fans will say he's garbage because of his concepts, his rhyming and whatnot. But to all these rappers... it's just music. They're not sitting at a computer on an internet forum all day analyzing multi-syllables, no. They're in the studio making their music, touring, or whatever. That's why at the end of the day, just like whoever you like, man.

Secret Ye fan I see :shifty:

Also, rap heads didn't come around until white nerds got into rap and had nothing else to do with their lives so they spend it on the internet.

Rap heads always existed, except it was people actually physically affiliated with rappers and the industry. It wasn't until the Internet that all these debates and bullshit truly blossomed.

You get what I mean, I'm talking about the modern rap heads that pit artists against each other and prefer the underground artists to the mainstream artists almost purely for the sake of being different. There are some decent and reasonable hip-hop heads out there, but they are a dying breed.

I understand it's not just the rhyming aspect of songs that some people have a problem with and that content plays a role as well. But, c'mon. Wouldn't you rather a song about girls instead of five dusty ass rappers that are 30+ years old talking about their dicks? And yeah, Eminem pours a lot of his sweat, blood, and tears into his work, or at least used to. However, he has cringe worthy/overplayed subject matter which I made light of two sentences before this one. Also, of course certain artists will focus on rhyming in their music, but just because that's what they do best doesn't mean that's how the judge another artist. I think for most of them rhyming is just a bonus to making their music, not the centerpiece. Finally, why would another artist care how other's make their music? It doesn't affect them in the slightest, that other artist is just doing their thing. It's kind of a bitch move if an artist were to critique another artist because they feel they didn't "put their heart into their music." As long as an artist has the satisfaction of making the music he wants to make, why does it matter?
