The only way it was done on purpose was if Em started having rhyme OCD. Which, I guess I wouldn't completely put it past him, so I will give you a 1.3 percent chance that rhyme was intentional.

So, regardless of whether he did it on purpose or not (he didn't) it doesn't make the song any better because our brains aren't registering the happiness we get from similar sounds placed in proximity. In other words, yes, it rhymes... but it probably shouldn't be in a lyrical appreciation thread as it literally serves no purpose and it's extremely unlikely it was done intentionally.

Hello, it's a LYRICAL APPRECIATION THREAD FOR EMINEM. It shouldn't even matter if it was intentional or not, they are lyrics that he wrote no matter how you flip it.

In my opinion, if you are appreciating someones lyrics, it is definitely relevant if that person intended to make a rhyme, make a punch, make a double entendre etc.

I was discussing it yesterday with someone on here. Like, you can have a very, VERY lyrically impressive song with great wordplay, metaphors, entendre's, and pretty basic rhymes. But usually a song with flat out rhyming is something anyone can do.
The only reason I said that though is because in the OP, Menzo said that he was highlighting the rhymes on the supposed Relapse 2 songs to see how "lyrical" it would be, like that's all it takes lol. I believe Underground rhymes a lot but it definitely isn't a lyrical masterpiece.

Amadeo wrote:Multies, on the other hand, whether you like them or not, are a learned skill. Not anyone can write 8-syllable multis. The local butcher down the road can't, and neither can my mailman...mainly because they don't even know what they are. But those two people have probably made over 1000 puns/plays on words in their lives.
Amadeo wrote:Using multis means you care about the overall sound of the lyrics. Using punchlines means...um...you can isolate two meanings of the same word. I don't think rappers should even bother with them. Most of them make me want to die...even the ones from good rappers.
Amadeo wrote:Metaphors, on the other hand, are great when used nicely.
Agreed. I think Underground is just a bit of fun from Eminem, but it's not impressive.
I'll sure as hell take Relapse Eminem (whose filler songs consisted of long strings of multis) over Recovery Eminem (whose filler songs consisted of lame punchlines) though.
