I think there's a double entendre with the whole sick/catch a thing word choice, but it could be a reach.

Unless, you treat it as a more general type of thing. Like just on the wordplay itself. Sick/Catch.

It's definitely wordplay with the 'sick / catching it'. Don't know how you're missing it 12characters.

"Funny how I'm only sick if you never catch a thing"

>So there is the meaning of Lupe only being 'dope' when his songs are complex / go over people's heads.
>Then there is the wordplay of taking the word 'Sick' literally and 'Catching sickness'.

Where you're getting confused is saying that someone wouldn't be sick if people could catch it.
But that's why he's saying "Funny," because it's a contradiction.

It would be like "It's funny how when I study hard I do worse in school."
or something. But his has a double meaning.

And his alternate meaning is a 'contradiction' as well.

He's saying he shouldn't be sick / dope only when people can't catch his lyrics.
Same way he shouldn't be sick if people can't catch the sickness.

Thats my view on it. Someone may take it differently.
I'm not tryin to be rude, but I sincerely wanna fuck the taste out of your mouth

Hot damn! That's a lot of words. Anyways, look at what I said;

That's what I was getting at, but it wouldn't work/be correct because of you're not sick if you don't catch anything.

Unless, you treat it as a more general type of thing. Like just on the wordplay itself. Sick/Catch

I wasn't oblivious to it. I said it wasn't really coherent :y:
One doesn't get sick if they don't catch anything, but you're right. It's a contradiction. It makes more sense when it's thought of in a more ironic way.

Kanye West vs Tupac.

Although this is like comparing Hopsin to Andre 3K

(Nothing in comparison and music being radically different, as well as talents.)

I'll have to say Kanye. For me.
