French Montana enlists Lana Del Ray for Debut album

When French Montana said he has “everybody” on his debut album, he wasn’t kidding. The Bad Boy rapper has called on a long list of collaborators including M.I.A., Nicki Minaj, and Lana Del Rey.


Due later this year, Excuse My French will be executive produced by Diddy and Rick Ross and feature collaborations with Wiz Khalifa, Drake, Lil Wayne, Wale, Max B, and more.

He is debating whether to go with the Nicki, M.I.A., or Lana Del Rey record as the follow-up to “Pop That.” “The single with Nicki and then I got something with M.I.A., so it’s like I’m picking and choosing,” he told MTV News, while adding, “Then I got something with…Lana Del Rey.”

While the names may surprise some, they just represent the New Yorker’s eclectic taste. “I be fans of these people,” he said. “It’s a circuit that everybody expects you to be in. … I just want to do something different for my next joint.”

He revealed another collaboration called “Marble Floors” with Lil Wayne and Rick Ross and an intro, which he compared to Diddy’s “No Way Out.”

He is so confident about the project that he plans to drop it in the fourth quarter. “Nobody expects me to come out and have a #1 record, so nobody gonna expect me to come out and have a #1 album ’cause the music just smacks you in the face,” he said. “The more you doubt, the more I smack you harder. It’s just the unexpected, the underdog.”

French is also working on his mixtape Mac & Cheese 3, but he has not set a release date.
