I see this all the time, and it's really baffling.
Rakim made an entire career out of rapping about rapping, but Eminem is the one with "no content?"
"All he does is rap about his wife and kid."
First of all, operating under this false claim...yeah, the horror of Eminem rapping about his personal life. He needs to rap more about the streetz and how he's a hardcore thug. Oh wait, he did that in his pill days.
And then, of course, you have the simple fact that Eminem is as content-driven as anyone. The same people whining about Eminem's content are listening to Generic Underground Emcee #84192 humping the eighth notes in a monotone rhyming about nothing in particular.
Or, they're putting on some emo abstract Sadistik song and marveling over the "imageryyyy."
Meanwhile, Eminem has songs about being broke, songs about being bullied in school, songs about the influence of his music on kids, songs about censorship, songs about media hypocrisy and sensationalism, songs about the impact of his skin color on how he is portrayed and perceived, songs about drug use, and endless stories.
But Eminem's got no content.
Well, I really shouldn't be surprised. These "rill hip hawp is all underground, son" fucks pretty much invariably also believe that 9/11 was an inside job and discuss the "Illumini." They also smoke tons of weed and pimp whatever Democratic candidate is running for President.
