The single best SINGLE of 2012

Postby OMEGA » Sep 27th, '12, 01:09

"Nas the Don, Nas the Don, Nas the Don, Nas the Don
Nas the Don, Nas the Don, Nas the Don, Nas the Don
Inna New York City, inna New York City
Inna New York City, inna New York City"

Image

I've come to the conclusion that this has been the best single so far of 2012. Some artists try so hard to come up with their own anthems or "theme-songs" but fail miserably. Nas effortlessly made The Don and it will go as one of the best songs of his entire career. Talk about visceral delivery combined with another unusual masterpiece from Salaam Remi (and Heavy and Da Internz).

"Twenty years in this game, looking seventeen
I don’t lean: no codeine, promethazine
I just blow green, pick which bitch to bless the king
Although he’s on to another chapter
Heavy D gave this beat to Salaam for me to rap to"

So good.

"Nas the Don, Super Cat the Don Dada, understood"

It's very forgettable for me, and it lacks in major replay value

According to iTunes I've listened to The Don 214 times. The song oozes replay value.

How can hip-hop be dead if Wu-Tang is forever?

LMAO. Mercy?

Drop it to the floor, make that ass shake
Whoa, make the ground move, that's an ass quake
Built a house up on that ass, that's an ass state
Roll my weed on it, that's an ass tray

One of the worst verses of the year kill any chance of this being the single of the year for me.

One verse on a compilation song with three other verses that were all pretty good doesn't bother me at all. Every song with Big Sean is going to feature a terrible artist - Big Sean. Clique was a great song, too.. despite him sucking. 2 Chainz and Pusha's verses more than make up for it imo.

Except that was one of the most memorable and catchy verses of the year and whenever that song came on it was instantly sung by everyone and got everyone hyped.

There's multiple videos on YouTube of people rapping along to the song Fack by Em. That song is definitely memorable and catchy. Everyone sang it. It wasn't "good", but it got people dancing.

Does that make the song better, in your opinion? Probably not. And don't bring up the content, since the content of that Mercy verse is incredibly generic. At least Fack, for example's sake, is original.

Original in worst fucking way ever. Disgusting.

Please explain to me how people rapping fack on youtube=everyone going fucking crazy when mercy comes on? I know you don't leave your house so you wouldn't know but Mercy was by far the biggest song of 2012 and Big Sean's verse was the highlight of the song.
