but then we can't use the computer and the laptop at the same time without tying up the phoneline.

if u use DSL, u simply buy this little estension that splits the telephone line into 2 kinds of data and then u can use both the phone and the computer.

that what i have!

i do have dsl and that's what we have to not get the phone line tied up.

but the laptop isn't working we bought the router and the usb adapter and it worked last night and for about an hour this morning... then it froze up and it says it can't connect

do you have a login type of Service provider? One were u have to enter ur password once then u can use it forever. coz i have this type and wen i reset my router i go to a special page(wich is the only one that works) and reconect so to speak.

Anyways its hard to judge, i'm a bit of a n00b myself, but i hope ull get it solved.
