Ok. I'll share what I use to stay in shape, but most people need to understand something.

You can't just take supplements with a mediocre (or outright terrible) diet and insufficient exericse and expect immediate results. Many Americans think that a few capsules will offset a diet of Taco Bell, pizza and chocolate cake.

Supplements do work, if they didn't bodybuilders wouldn't use them. But they only work if you do everything right.

IMO, your fitness is based on 45% Diet, 45% Exercise, 10% Supplements (if that).

But here is what I use:

Multivitamin (Centrum)
Vitamin B Complex
Vitamin D
Omega Fish Oils

Again, these are just to supplement my diet, not to excuse a poor diet.

Whey Protein Powder, I use for my protein needs. If you just want to get in good shape, you only need 50g of protein. If you want to bodybuild 100g of protein, though some people stand by Xg of protein per day (X being lean mass).

I don't use caffeine or anything with caffeine (other than an occasional cup of coffee or tea), as I find caffeine-based supplements to be spotty and unreliable.

I do use Creatine, though. And as of now, that's the only muscle building supplement I recommend.

Creatine is dirt cheap.
Creatine can be taken anytime.
Creatine can be taken in small doses (2-3 grams/day, any more will just leave the system)

Basically, Creatine increases the amount of water in your muscles, which increases your short term recovery. By that, I mean your muscles won't repair any faster after your workout, but it will give your muscles more energy during the workout. So this means you can lift a little bit more weight, you can do a few more reps per set, and you can probably do another set.

Creatine in itself doesn't do ANYTHING to increase your muscle mass. It just gives your muscles the energy so you are ABLE to lift more. So, a person taking Creatine who doesn't exercise will get no results. A person taking Creatine who regularly lifts, will see the results. I've seen them.

Creatine is completely natural and your body already produces it (though it could use a few grams more if you bodybuild). It is the most scientifically studied supplement. No harmful effects as it is natural (to your body).

As for my thoughts on Jack3D.

It already contains Creatine in there, contributing to the results.

It also contains Beta Alanine, which I've heard works, but the effects of it are not nearly as well known as Creatine.

It has an ingredient called 1,3 which I think was banned in some countries. That's probably what contributes to the success many people feel when taking Jack3d, but there's not enough science on it proving that it isn't harmful.

Jack3d's last main ingredient is caffeine, which I think can be helpful but spotty.

I have a whey powder blend mixed with creatine (I forget the name of it, but it's one you don't have to cycle). I take the same shake without the creatine after a workout and Calcium Caseinate (also a protein powder but slow release) before bed. Workout 3-5 tie a weekly including cardio and eating a high protein diet with carbs only before 3pm. I have been doing this (very dedicatedly) for two months now and have seen big improvements in both measurements and appearance.

Also a multivitamin and 4 fish oil caps daily, but that isn't for the training, it's just for general well being.

It's 70% in the kitchen and how well you sleep.

My flatmates on a pretty similar cycle as what SliK just mentioned and getting great results but he isn't going out and getting fucked up either.

Ye ol 'getting home at 7ams' are a pretty big trade off. Don't mind them at all.

I don't take offense to that. As long as supplements are at the 10% mark, that's my overall point.

Yes the caffeine in supplements work but you go down hours after meaning you are tired and your body is sore.

Worst of all though, I find caffeine inconsistent. Yes, sometimes it gives me instant energy, but other times it results in sleepless nights (which is not good for bodybuilding or overall health)

For weight loss diet is 75%, for muscle gain I'd say its more like 25%, if you don't mind a dirty bulk.

yes

no
I dunno where that comes from but supplements are to aid in muscle recovery and growth or to boost performance, the only way to not get injured is to do the right exersizes in the right way.

depends if youre trying to get lean, massive or a halfway point. Personally i dont wanna be Ronnie Coleman level
Image
but i still build muscle, so for that i dont use supplements. Ideally you shouldnt have to use them at all, you should be able to get all the calories/carbs/protein from foods, if not then use supplements (unless you wanna be Ronnie Coleman, in which case feel free to go crazy on steroids creatine and liquidized chicken on a drip 24/7). Diet is all in all more important than the exersizes you do, which is kind of a given, but doing the right exersizes is pretty important too...
Bear in mind that im not going for aesthetics, if all you need is to look like a tank, mass gainers oats and high protein are probably the way, and if your health isnt a major concern, go for creatine too, which has probably already been said.

edit: Ronnie Coleman i imo the best bodybuilder, hence i use him as an example.
