I want to hear R2, but not if it somehow interferes with future albums.

I'd argue that it's exciting if the suspense is well kept. But there's a fine line between suspense and leaving the god damn building for years at a time.

EminemBase wrote:But to say he's one of the least concerned when he scrapped Relapse 2, went in a mainstream direction with Recovery and apologized about his last album in his own music, to listeners
I didn't say he wasn't concerned. Don't get me twisted up. The question was weather or not Em is aware of how the fans feel about Relapse/Relapse 2. And given that the general consensus is that Relapse was brilliant, and we haven't heard any Relapse-esque material since, I have to say no.

That's just not true. I'm not gonna write a paragraph on it. It just isn't. In fact I'd argue that it's easier to be public when work is getting done. But again, Em isn't that person to begin with.

Yes, he does, but he'll send an axe at you if you prefer an accent.

But a few people you know doesn't take away from the majority who didn't like Relapse because of it's subject matter, theme, accent with the exception of Beautiful and Deja Vu songs that people who didn't like the album liked those 2 songs and wanted basically songs like that on that album.

Most Eminem fans like his introspective music the heart felt material and this is a great amount of people since his fan base so big, the people that liked a Shady Relapse type of material always been the minority

Always been the minority? eh, no.

His truly introspective work came later, and he got a lot of new fans when he got more introspective, and he's always been very honest and revealing; but his initial fan base, who were not the minority; they're what made Eminem, that initial base got his first two albums.

And both of those albums have a lot of concepts, politics and humour. That's what made Eminem, initially, and people like me don't just like one particular side of Eminem, I like Eminem the artist, but I prefer his more creative material. I think he's done enough introspection now.

I agree with you Embase, however, not entirely.I believe he has not done enough introspection, I want more & deeper, rawer tracks still, but I do agree that I love Em the artist.I love his creative material, his crazy, even tough-guy material.I love the goofy stuff & Slim Shady is his signature, I can't imagine him without the inspirational or heartfelt music though. He is IMO the most versatile music artist to ever lay vocals so I don't want it to be any different from here on out

A Relapse 2 mixtape wouldn't be entirely unreasonable...Paul has no money to lose from doing that. I would LOVE to hear Relapse 2, myself. I bet it was one of his best ever.

Well I agree BUT, I think he needs to learn to stick to directions with albums, I believe that is what made Encore and to an extent Recovery feel uneven.

If you look at The Slim Shady LP, and The Marshall Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show; they all have a particular sound and theme and pretty much stick to it from top to bottom, which is what I believe a classic is: a unified sound of brilliant material.

What I don't want is like a creative album peppered with random introspection. It's like, pick a theme and go with it. That's the only reason I was bugged by the introspection on Relapse, because it's like he's doing it for the sake of trying to balance the album like "oh, I better have a few of these kinda tracks", similarly "Lighters" sounded bizarre as fuck on the EP. Not just because of that hook, but like every other track bar "Take from Me" is total indulgence in character, I don't think he should try and do both in separate directions on the same body of work...

Encore was such a mixed bag because it was half silly, half very serious, a total Bipolar fest. The Eminem Show I believe is his best because he blended it allll together. He's funny, he's serious, he's heartfelt, he's political but, all the time, on every track, so it feels totally blended and right.

But he doesn't seem to be able to do that as well now, it's like, "Yellow Brick Road" is serious as fuck, and then "Big Weenie" is fucking ridiculous, they don't sit right together, I dunno, he did do that on SSLP by having like "If I Had" and then "My Fault"... but I think just because the style was so consistent it worked, but for the most part I don't think it does now.

Jesus fucking christ I ramble. Just had a coffee though, so, meh.
