Second Half of 'Recovery'...

Postby EminemBase » Oct 14th, '12, 16:44

Rocks the fuck out.

Have said it before, and Recovery seems to have this... reoccuring life to me that if I leave it alone for a little while (even though I listen to it quite regularly still), it seems fresh all over again.

I love the whole album tbh but wow at the second half. I'm playing from "Cinderella Man" on down right now, I really look forward to each next song, the album definitely has staying power.

And, this batch of songs, this second half... some really amazing stuff.

I think the screaming of "Almost Famous" is what makes the song. It's a gigantic burst of energy and everything about it works to me, the verses are dope as FUCK, the hook works and the beat meshes with his angry style really well. It's one of my fave Em songs in a while.

I agree with Embase, Almost Famous is epic! A top ten all-time for me potentially, plus YNO doesn't have a wack beat wtf gtfo.So Bad does ruin the 2nd half for me a little tbh, I just love Ridaz :facepalm

I actually love the hook even though I agree / acknowledge that it's kinda awful singing. I dunno though, something about Em... maybe his grasp of melody, it's still catchy and I love it in it's-so-bad-but-great kinda way, which doesn't make much sense... maybe it's sadistic listening.

the screaming on almost famous is what makes the song one of his few 5 star songs since his comeback.
he shows how he felt inside back then and how hungry he was. that song would have fit on mmlp if you ask me ...

I'm not the greatest fan of the beat but it does fit the concept. The song is supposed to be partially celebratory of Proof's legacy, "instead of mourning your death, I'd rather celebrate your life, elevate to new heights". The beat sounds like a marching celebration, and whilst it's sad topic, Em is energized and passionate, so I think the beat needs to be that kind of style.
