He's pretty good there.

You should give Tha Carter 2 a listen.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

Back then, when Wayne released it, a lot of people were saying it's shit. One of the wackest rap album ever and shit.

But eventually, Wayne did way worse and so people started to appreciate it a little more. I'm not even ashamed to say that I started to dress like I do now.

Why?

Because when Lil Wayne was making raps full of metaphors, similes, humor, punchlines puns and word play, nobody else was. He became famous doing it and now everyone else is. If you had rhymes like that in 1999, people would think you are gay or something.

And now, for the past few years, Eminem has been doing it too. Yes, he did this on occasion back before Lil Wayne got airplay, but now he's doing it a lot more. Half of the rhymes in Recovery, a lot in Hell The Sequel and his freestyles.

Not to say they are bad, but the Eminem fans are Lil Wayne haters, where do you think Eminem got his new style from? Or everyone else to be fair.

In other words Lil Wayne is responsible for hip hop's falling off

C3 would be as bad as C4 if it wasn't for the production.

Hip-hop isn't falling off...I have no clue where people got this idea from. The music is still fresh and alive and there are artists pumping out great music everyday, you just have to know where to look.

I kind of agree with what ur saying... I dont really like Lil Wayne, but he does have this unique (kind of dumb) style of making punchlines which he pretti much fathered. Stuff like that one mentioned before: "you can't see me... Ray Charles" haha... and I do believe it has influenced (for wrong) how Eminem writes his new stuff... shit like... "put you on a roll... Danish".. lol, thats just stupid. And I see many people doing it now, Before the Carter 3 I rarely saw people using this kind of punches, now all Young Money do it.

I guess somehow he did pioneered something after all, unfortunately its part of many things which compose the modern downfall of Hip Hop... But somehow, people seem to like it, so I guess... hmmm... I dont know, I'm just hitting my keyboard writing words that probably make sense no at all. So yeah, probably leave me out of this debate, should I delete all this??... nah, took me a bit to write. fuck this :flower:

Hip Hop itself might not be falling off, considering there are plenty of artists around dropping quality material. But when Lil Wayne and Drake are the most popular ones they become the face of Hip Hop. Mainstream Hip Hop is certainly declining since that's the case. ALL music is declining, actually.
