WT:OH vs GKMC

Postby Accor » Oct 18th, '12, 02:40

Bother major label debuts on Interscope, both Kendrick and Slaughterhouse were established and had work out before these albums. I know GKMC hasn't been out for long but who cares lol.

Now I think GKMC literally destroys everything WT:OH has to offer, and I think WT:OH is a pretty mediocre album that is flat out bad at times so I wouldn't be creating this thread anywhere else, but I think since there's a lot of Shady fans on this site it could be an active discussion. Which album do you think is better?

my vote goes to Kendrick

so? are groups not capable of making good albums or something? sure you could argue that they have no chemistry and they were destined to fail but it's plenty fair to compare these

only thing I didn't enjoy that much on gkmc is the weird voice on some songs, but that album is one of the most consistent I have ever heard, extremely well written and produced which is not the case for WT;oh imo :/

yeah but I don't think it's unfair to compare them. Idk about you guys but I think I've sat with Kendrick's album long enough to give it a fair grade (which is around an 8 btw). Maybe it was too early but I highly, highly doubt I'll ever think WT:OH is better than GKMC. It's like, objectively better lol

gkmc has been received as a classic by his fans and other ppl rly enjoyed the album (it was one of the biggest buzz on ktt tbh), this wasn't the case for SH's album at all ;/
some ppl have been palying the album for the 5-6th time in a row, I don't even remember SH's fans doing that the day of the leak =p

The concept of the album is extremely well done, this is not a cd with different tracks, this is AN album
Moreover, the singles(bonus) had more positive reviews than WT:OH's singles

I can see gkmc as one of the best debut albums since the documentary, quote me on that, I'm sure some critics and magazines gonna say that shit :smoking:

I like WT:OH but good kid, m.A.A.d city is SO much better that they're not even comparable. Like Lance5 on the first page said, this is an album. Not just a collection of songs. Each song belongs.
