This is an incredible album, just yesterday I learned that he's released this project independently
Now the Jimmy Iovine joint makes more sense, lol

He's #1 btw, this good for him.

One question tho, what did Ryan do to get that much credit?

Yeah Ryan Lewis is the producer, and he easily deserves half the credit, his beats are phenomenal. I can't wait to download this in a couple weeks when I go home.

It's worth noting, too, that neither of the beats contains any samples. Every beat was apparently made from scratch, which is somewhat rare these days.

Macklemore Reacts To Billboard Debut

Last week, 79,000 fans purchased Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ debut, The Heist. Released independently, the album currently holds the silver medal on the Billboard 200. In turn, Mack thanked his fans via his Facebook page.

The fact that a small group people recording, mixing, editing videos and shipping albums from a 500 sq foot room can push 78,000 their first week is a testament to the fans. They are the ones that pushed this album, spread the word, and brought so much attention to what we do.

The music industry is coming to a point where what big companies have on their agenda can’t compete with what the people want. You guys who supported this album made it #2 on the Billboard charts. No big budget, no cosigns, no radio department. Just people that connect and care about the art enough to buy it, stand behind it and spread it amongst friends and family. 78,000 sold independently. I could have never dreamed this. Thank you all. #sharkfacegang

That Jimmy Iovine song is awesome.

And probably true, to some extent.

Downloaded this album just to see what it was like. I first heard Macklemore a couple months back when he dropped thrift shop...and while I thought it was alright it didn't really leave me wanting more.

Well...I think the album is awesome :worship: I loved the production, the content, the craft...everything. I think there is 2 or 3 song's that I dislike. I bought it off iTunes and I went to Best Buy and bought the last copy they had.

It is.

It's fairly light hearted, but it's got serious moments too. Some songs are stronger than others, and I wouldn't call it AOTY, but it's a strong project. "Starting Over" and "Jimmy Iovine" are great songs, and so are pretty much all of the songs that were released as singles. Definitely worth checking out.
