And being thrown random words makes it a lot easier to freestyle because you don't have to do the thinking on your own and you can focus on the rhyming. It's a lot harder to freestyle solely off of your own thoughts because you have to think of what you're going to say and then rhyme it. No Eminem freestyle can come close to comparing to Eyedea's freestyle.
Yep I listened to it.
Phrasing was corny and he sounds cheesy. The lyrics and phrasing were very regular, total lack of personality, not even close to Em in terms of rhyming phrases that are as naturalistic and everyday as they are peculiar and left-field. It was more... robotic and static, boring, no personality.
And no I don't think being thrown random words doesn't make it easier; as if you're freestyling off-the-top and can go ANYWHERE, you have more options. Where as if somebody throws you a specific word, you have less options and yes, in a sense that word provides you with a prop for the next line; but keeping a continuous flow of ideas and rhymes as somebody is spontaneously throwing words at you is amazing. And what he came out with was way funnier, more original and more striking than anything I heard in that freestyle vid which was mostly very predictable rapper babble.
Em is not even a decent off-the-top freestyler in general (aside from that one occasion) when he'd normally attempt it he'd lose most of his rhythm and just keep aimlessly swearing and tripping up. So I concede that Eyedea is a better freestyler, in terms of actual ability to do it on the spot, but Em's 'first word' freestyle was way better than that to me.
