Do you think Tupac would have fallen off

Postby Blu » Nov 4th, '12, 23:34

if he was still alive today? A lot of people seem to think that he'd be the savior of hip-hop if he suddenly came back or was even still around, but tbh I think he'd have lost his relevancy and eventually faded away.

What do ya'll think?

He would still be dope but people would have lost interest. If he were to "come back" or whatever today, I think his popularity would be insane. He'd easily do a milli first week if he came back with an album.

Of course, that won't happen because Tupac is dead.

If he came back lets say today, I don't think that he would be a saviour of hip-hop but he will definitely be at the top again and make a huge impact. As for sales charts he would destroy the sales charts just cuz we thought he is dead and he is back and of course he makes great music.

I don't think he would fade away his fan base is way too strong as well as his legacy.

Let's say he never died, do you think he'd still be as popular today?

He had said before he died that he wanted to start getting into politics so I think he would have willingly fallen off on his own if he went that route.

Also, if he kept rapping I think he would have ended up more like Snoop Dogg than Eminem. He would still be a huge name people would have just stopped caring about his music so much because his lack of talent would have gotten boring.

Yes. Dying was the best thing that ever happened to his career, it's sad to say.

I feel as if B.I.G was trying to reach what Em (and many other rappers) reached in 99, the rhyming schemes and subject matter and all that shit.

Pac would either quit or try to adapt and I don't quite see him adapting to the new sound.

I am in no way saying B.I.G is better btw.

I completely agree.
I don't think Pac would be absent from the game due to relevancy, but just because he decided to quit. But I do see where people come from when they think that he'd fallen off. He'd probably had fallen due to not wanting to evolve into the "current trend", if that makes sense?

When you say new trend, what new trend you talking about?

Current trends as in that trap rap tone that seems to be pretty popular. But then again, you can say that there are rappers that havent really embraced that and are still a success

bigray wrote:So your saying Pac would have quit rapping if he did not adapt too Trap rap music? That doesn't make sense IMO cuz there are many rappers who don't rap like that and are still around like you mentioned, Eminem is 1 of them.

I don't think that type is really successful anyway, in sales maybe but too me that taint even hip hop music.

Hahaha no- it sounds dumb when you put like that!
Well, I guess im trying to say he would've probably bowed out knowing that he did his thing in his prime and not try to remain relevant by conforming to what the public bought. But agree with the Em thing, yeah, he might've had major longevity in the game by sticking his style. Guess we'll never know...!

Pac is one of the few rappers who were actually getting better with time and if Nas, who has way less mainstream appeal than Pac, can drop the arguable album of the year in 2012 and gather attention then I'm sure that Pac could've had as well. And I'm pretty sure that he was planning to focus on his acting career so he might have become something like Mos Def.

he probably would be right next to cube in the entertainment business. rap/act.

and occasionally he'd drop a drop guest verse here and there.

Tupac was more then a rapper...I don't think people realize how powerful he was and the movement he was creating. People were looking at him as the next Martin Luther or Malcolm X. There hasn't been another artist since that is able to move and inspire people as much as pac did IMO.
