Correct me if I'm wrong then.
But I thought they were the exact same formula.
Am I missing something from one of them.
Hopsin's line is comparing blowing a dick to blowing into a Nintendo cartridge. It's a simile, comparing two things using like or as. The Esoteric line is just a play on the word M-16. Hopsin doesnt really use any word play, just a punchline.

I already explained why it's clever.
Your responses so far have been
>all he did was flip a Dougie fresh line. (where there is obviously more to the line)
>he didn't intentionally not say it. (which you haven't backed up.)
>you don't seem to think well executed irony is clever (unless there's wordplay)
>if the premise for an ironic joke is simple/bad, as it stands. then a well executed one must be bad/simple also. (your weakest reasoning yet)
>repeatedly state it's not clever

classthe_king wrote:Come on broski, the most important reason it's not clever which I have already stated: it's not an original or creative concept. The joke he made I would say either I make that joke everyday or somebody I know makes that joke, and twice on sunday. This isn't a punchline where the actual wordplay and execution matters. There was nothing special about Eminem's execution, I didn't listen to the line and say wow man I wish I had thought of that! You wanna know why? Because I have thought of that, many times.

If you think execution of ironic or witty jokes don't matter then we might as well stop arguing.
And lol. It's more original than all of the examples you posted--as he turned it around and actually fulfilled the promise. (again, you don't think he did that--which is stupid in itself).
And that's one of the most creative homages i've seen in rap personally.

classthe_king wrote:The execution matters but there was nothing special about his execution. If you take a played out pun but find a way to use it in a new way so that it's original then it can still be good. Eminem didn't do that, he used the irony in the same way everyone else does and because he just happened to not say the word fucking for the next 6 minutes doesn't add anything to the cleverness of the line.
And his columbine homage is much better tbh

And how do you know this? How can you say that like it`s a fact? Come on man, you act all smart and above evreyone else here, and than you say something as stupid as this. Blindly loving everything that Em does is stupid, but your criticising is even more stupid and annoying.
You know that battle in 8 Mile, Em and X, in the lunch line? "You look like a pissed off rapper who never made it".

Till they sit and they cry at night wishin' they'd die
Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe
We're nothin' to you but we're the fuckin' shit in they eyes
That's why we seize the moment try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and
hold it
Cause we consider these minutes golden
And maybe they'll admit it when we're gone
Just let our spirits live on, through our lyrics that you hear in our

Perfectly captured one of the most important roles of music in peoples lives. And the fact that we start to appreciate things after we lose them.
