Oh, absolutely. I enjoy both Eminem (SSLP through 8 Mile and Relapse) and Kanye (everything). They are two completely different artists and have both sustained legendary careers in the genre. And anyone who denies that's either lying to themself or just plain blind.

Kanye is to Hip-Hop what Eminem was ten years ago. He's the face of Hip-Hop. Everyone hangs onto his every word and everything he says or does is scrutinized and exposed by the media. I feel as if Eminem fans are just a little angry that Eminem will never be that person again.

I don't see why the comparison is always brought forth.

I don't really agree with the "he's the face of Hip Hop" though.. Unless I misunderstood. Do you mean as in popularity? Or are you talking about how new rappers are getting influenced by him? If it's the latter I agree.

I don't know man. I'm not angry that Eminem will never be the same old Shady again because I knew it right after Relapse. But I still think he can put out a close-to-classic album, even though it might be TOTALLY different from his 3 first cds.

I actually think that people are expecting his new albums to be like his first ones and then they're disappointed and when they compare them, they see it's different. He's not really the same guy. He doesn't sound like the same guy.

I know you probably don't agree, but it's like.. I don't expect Kanye to put out a Jesus Walks nowadays. Or Roses. MBDTF was kind of a let down for me.. It sounded good, but it was different from what I like to hear on a Kanye record.

1. He's not on the song Session One
2. That sig is old as hell, I rarely listen to SH anymore.
3. Thanks for the reminder, I've been meaning to delete it.

It's kind of always been the modus operandi of Eminem fans to hate the most popular artists in Hip-Hop recently, actually. During Lil Wayne and T.I.'s skyrocket in popularity with Tha Carter III and Paper Trail, that's all people talked about around these parts (Myself being included in that. I used to be pretty clueless).

And Kanye changes so dramatically with every album that I suppose it's understandable to not fully dig an album he puts out. I love everything, though.. to a lesser extent with 808's and Graduation.

To me, Eminem's last album was truly terrible. Kanye's wasn't. Eminem fans don't have much to cling to. We probably will see him prove he's a more powerful emcee on his next solo album. But lately (Recovery, Hell: The Sequel, his features), every song has a line that makes me cringe. That's definitely not a point Eminem fans should feel is really heavily in Eminem's favor... at this point.

And I definitely think Kanye West is the most popular and biggest modern influence in the genre.

I love Kanye. I just think it's childish to claim Ye is a better lyricist than Em. Even 95% of Ye fans know Em's superior in that category. Show-stopping, mind-blowing penmanship is sorta Eminem's trademark.
