Recovery Kicks Ass.

Postby EminemBase » Nov 23rd, '12, 13:35

I make one of these threads like every few months but again, after just not listening to it for a while, and listening again now, almost every song kicks major fucking ass. The style is badass.

Also, overtime it seems to sound more coherent. My problem with it was that it always seemed random and disjointed but as I listen now... the tracks seem to flow pretty well.

I definitely think the album will age well just due to how much effort he put in to every verse, in terms of energy and the dense schemes and flows.

Regardless of the little asides we all make about this album and how, I agree that he didn't make a classic with this (just due to some of the poor production and lack of cohesive feel), he still definitely did something with it in my opinion. It's a great album. A lot of memorable shit here.

I predicted this. I wrote this one year ago :

Guess_Who wrote:when I joined this forum everybody was hating Relapse. Now is other way round, and a lot of people hate Recovery. When we have a new album people will hate the new thing and they will praise Recovery....

We don't have the new thing still, but everything he is doing now is being hated. Time to praise Recovery. And let's wait when the new album come out... :pizza:

Yep, with most.

I don't follow those silly back-n-forth trends of hate-love with material though, if you check through my posts even from the time these albums dropped... I've always praised Relapse.

And, I've always said what I say about Recovery then, as what I say now.

Most people react honestly, then refrain and check the crowd, then conclude a verdict on how they think their taste 'should' be aka what the 'clued up' fans think. Then overtime, go back to their honest feelings on the material if they revisit or once the 'crowd mentality' wears off.

@eminembase, Yeah I know, I wasn't talking about you in particullary, but recently I just saw people is starting to praise Recovery in many threads, not long ago Recovery was corny and a bad album. And the worse thing you could say is that you liked it. And God forbid that you liked Love the way you lie or Space bound.

Now the trend is hate his new things, and I don't like Numb , but people is taking the hate to far. They are already predicting that the new album will be terrible. Any past was better it seems, now Recovery is past, so it's better.

How could someone listen to a 2 year old album full of a man walking away from his drug addiction. You must have been really bored that day.

LOL....go back to the Recovery thread and people were calling it a classic and everyone loved it.

So are people not allowed to change their opinions on something?

I agree we can change our minds about anything but it is the fact the it gets annoying when people completely trash Recovery and make it seem so awful. It is ok to not like something but you have to agree it gets a little too much hate.

Agreed.

Most of it isn't even about that though.

There's only really three tracks that properly deal with that - "Talkin' 2 Myself", "Going Through Changes" and "Not Afraid".

Other than that you have lyrical rampage tracks - "Cold Wind Blows", "On Fire", "Won't Back Down", a semi storytelling / party / concept track - "W.T.P.", another concept track "Seduction"... there's a lot of concepts and lyricism, badass flows and delivery. I couldn't give a fuck about his addiction tbh.

My mind hasn't changed either. I've always praised Relapse like I've always praised Recovery.

It really isn't all that great.... All I can think about is "I'm standing on top of my monopoly board" and "My filet is smoking weed, yeah the stakes are high". It's a good album though.
